Bottom Line

The mid-range, 57-room Hotel Galileo is one of five hotels in the Your Prague Hotels chain, and includes two-room Apartments that can sleep up to four people. The building is a mix of old and new spaces, including a spacious windowed breakfast room on the top floor of the more modern wing, which was built in 2011, and a lobby bar area in the older building. Located in Vinohrady, the hotel is not exactly central, but it is within walking distance of Wenceslas Square, and trains and trams run nearby -- light sleepers might want to request rooms at the back of the hotel. Travelers looking to be closer to Old Town might want to check out the Hotel Atlantic, which has similar rates.

Hotel Galileo Prague

Scene

A mix of classic and modern

This hotel consists of two buildings, which gives it a bit of a split personality. The yellow facade, reception area, and lobby bar -- a small room with a scattering of tables and chairs and a small, ornate wooden bar -- are older, with ochre tile and salmon-colored curtains. The newer building, built in 2011, is much more modern and includes a skylit seating area with black-, white-, and gray-tiled walls, and black-and-white sofas. The breakfast room is bright white and gray, with floor-to-ceiling windows. The decor can be a good compromise for guests who can't decide whether they want to stay in an old or new hotel.

Rooms

Spacious rooms and apartments are an eclectic mix of old and new

The hotel’s 57 spacious rooms include Standard Double and Triple rooms. Two-room Apartments, some with kitchenettes, have ceramic-tile floors, comforters, and drapes in a black and gold pattern, and are in the older building. Superior Rooms are in the modern building, and have hardwood floors and sleeker, more sophisticated decor, including plum-colored blankets and olive-green curtains, though the simple wood furniture with green accents is essentially the same in both types of rooms. Some of the rooms could use more furnishings to break up the expansive hardwood and tile floors. Bathrooms are large with shower/tub combos and toiletries. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs, minibars, tea kettles, safes, slippers, and hairdryers. Light sleepers should request rooms at the back of the hotel to avoid tram noise.
