Situated in a four-story beige building surrounded by a parking lot, the WoodSpring Suites San Antonio Fort Sam is a chain property situated outside of San Antonio's city center. There's not much in terms of common spaces; guests are greeted in a functional reception area that doesn't offer any seating and consists solely of a front desk. The hotel gets a lot of extended stays, such as business travelers or workers with jobs in the area, some of whom are repeat guests, and it caters to them with special rates. Many guests, however, stay for just a night and complain of a range of issues, including cleanliness. The San Antonio International Airport is around a 15-minute drive from the hotel.

The hotel offers basic suites with kitchens. Decor is bland, bleak, and uninviting, with teal accent walls as the only form of visual interest in the spaces. Walls are bare, floors are carpeted, and furnishings are wooden. Beds are topped with beige bedspreads, and all rooms have desks/tables; some have sleeper sofas.
