Bottom Line

The mid-range Hyatt Place Santa Fe is a modern hotel with many attractive amenities, including a free hot breakfast, free downtown and airport shuttles, and a 24-hour restaurant/bar in its cheerful lobby. It also has a 24-hour fitness center, pool/whirlpool, and free parking and Wi-Fi, but it’s a 20-minute trip to the historic downtown area, which can get tiresome for tourists on multi-day stays. Its 92 guest rooms are contemporary and spacious, and they're nicely equipped with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and sleeper sofas in separate seating areas. Attractive rates make this a solid value for travelers who don’t mind staying well outside downtown. Travelers looking for a stay closer to Old Town can consider the mid-range Villas de Santa Fe.

Scene

A modern hotel with a spacious and cheerful lobby and 24-hour food and drinks

Set about a block off the road behind a gas station, this modern hotel is relatively quiet but can be a bit hard to find. The spacious and cheerful lobby features distinctive touches like natural stone walls, contemporary furniture in bright colors, high ceilings, and banks of second-floor windows. With the 24-hour kitchen that also has a bar, it’s not unusual to see guests in the lobby at any hour enjoying a snack or drink. It’s a comfortable place that's popular with leisure and business travelers alike, with a relaxed vibe that’s in tune with the spirit of Santa Fe.

Location

On busy Cerrillos Road, about 20 minutes from downtown Santa Fe

The Hyatt Place is set just off Cerrillos Road, the main drag that runs into downtown Santa Fe. It’s a busy commercial area with a gas station in front of the hotel, but several restaurants and shops are within walking distance, including the Santa Fe Place Mall and a microbrewery. - 11-minute walk to Santa Fe Place Mall

  • 12-minute drive to Santa Fe Municipal Airport
  • 14-minute drive to the Santa Fe Railyard station
  • 20-minute drive to the Plaza and other downtown attractions
  • 21-minute drive to the Santa Fe Opera House
  • 48-minute drive to Ski Santa Fe
  • 55-minute drive to Albuquerque International Airport

Rooms

Contemporary, with sofa beds, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers, but no microwaves

Guest rooms are spacious and cleverly configured to provide maximum comfort. They also have warm and inviting decor, with soft lighting, gold-patterned carpeting, and furniture that has an amber finish. The King and Double Queen rooms are laid out like a studio suite, with a frosted glass partition separating the beds from the seating areas. There are sectional sleeper sofas, desks, and granite dry bars with mini-fridges and coffeemakers. Swiveling 42-inch flat-screen TVs with media plug-in panels serve both areas. Free Wi-Fi is standard, but rooms lack microwaves and safes. Bathrooms vary by room type -- Kings have roomy walk-in showers with glass doors, while Double Queens have shower/tub combos. Both versions have beige tiling and are small, but black granite vanities placed outside the bathrooms make them less cramped, and all come with KenetMD toiletries. The rooms are generally quiet, clean, and well-maintained. Some offer distant mountain views, while others simply overlook the parking lot and surrounding commercial buildings.

Features

Lots of freebies including breakfast and Wi-Fi, and 24-hour gym, but no full restaurant

This hotel is designed to accommodate tourists and business travelers on the go. Gallery Kitchen and Bakery Café is open 24/7, and offers a diverse menu of snacks, salads, sandwiches, and entrees, plus Starbucks coffee drinks, beers, and wine. Guests also are offered a free hot breakfast buffet each morning that includes eggs breakfast meats, and healthy options like Greek yogurt. Outdoor dining is available on the patio. The hotel doesn't have a full-service restaurant. For wellness, there's a 24-hour fitness center with Life Fitness cardio equipment and free weights, and a heated indoor pool and whirlpool. Small functions can be hosted in the hotel’s lone meeting space, and the business center has two computers and a printer with remote printing from guest rooms. Valet dry cleaning and laundry service is available, and there’s a guest laundry room on-site. Wi-Fi throughout and on-site parking are free, and pets are welcome with a surcharge. Free shuttles run to the city’s airport and to downtown Santa Fe, but the last downtown pickup is early in the evening.
