Right next to the Space Needle, the 172-room mid-range Hyatt House Seattle/Downtown is a chic modern property with comfortable rooms designed for longer stays and some nice extras. Most rooms have full kitchens, a nice option for families or long-term guests. Free shuttle service, free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and an on-site shop are welcome conveniences. The price is steep, though, especially for guests who don’t need kitchen facilities. Those who don’t plan to cook for themselves might consider the Inn at the Market. It’s directly in wonderful Pike Place Market, overlooking Puget Sound; it also has a great rooftop space; and it can be cheaper than the Hyatt.

On the downside, there are an amenities fee and pricey charge for parking, plus elevators can reportedly be slow. Guests may want to compare rates with Hotel Max, which also offers a central location and urban aesthetic, but sometimes at a lower price point.

Luxurious it isn’t, but the Courtyard Seattle Downtown/Pioneer Square gets big points for its lively, well-chosen locale and no-nickel-and-diming attitude. Contemporary rooms may be on the small side, but they're pretty stylish for a chain and have up-to-date tech features. Given the captivating, historic neighborhood, you’ll likely spend little time in them.

Located on a quieter block of downtown Seattle, this stylish two-pearl boutique hotel dates back more than 100 years and offers a variety of rooms ranging from small European-style spaces with shared bathrooms to a large suite with a separate living room and a kitchenette. All rooms are all nicely decorated with unmistakable charm, and many are considerably more affordable than what's on offer at many downtown hotels. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel but can be weak in places. Keep in mind that parking is not available on-site and breakfast is not included. The nearby Belltown Inn is another value option nearby, and it has a rooftop deck and free bikes to borrow.

Travelers seeking a stay that's a step up can consider Hotel Five Seattle. 

This Holiday Inn caters to business travelers, but is also popular with tourists largely because of its location a few blocks from some of the city’s big attractions, including the Space Needle, the Pacific Science Center, the Experience Music Project, and the Key Arena. The 196 rooms have basic decor but are clean and bright. There’s a decent restaurant on-site that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a small gym, and standard business amenities, including free Wi-Fi. It’s worth comparing rates with some non-chain hotels that have a little more personality, such as the Mediterranean Inn.
