Bottom Line

The Hotel Derby Sevilla is in one of the busiest areas of the city where public transportation, shops, restaurants, and attractions are within easy walking distance. Although the lobby is bright and modern, the rooms are a touch dated with patterned bedspreads and small bathrooms. Some rooms have nice city views while others look at cement, but there is free Wi-Fi in all. A rooftop terrace has gorgeous city views. Parking isn’t available on-site; however, at El Corte Inglés, guests are allowed to park for a discounted daily rate. There may not be many extras, but the Hotel Derby Sevilla is good for business travelers and tourists who care more about location than looks.

Hotel Derby Sevilla

Scene

A slightly dated value hotel

The Hotel Derby Sevilla has a quiet and relaxed atmosphere despite its central, bustling location. The simple furnishings are standard with little pop or wow; the lobby is much more modern than the rest of the hotel. Lovely wood and tile as well as black furniture fill the lobby while the breakfast area has dated red chairs and green walls -- zigzag lights on the ceiling and mini windows don’t help to add style to the space. Slightly updated tan leather couches and chairs cover the cafe area. Besides the old-fashioned furnishings, this hotel is great for tourists and business travelers because of its fantastic location.

Location

In a busy area where much is within walking distance

Hotel Derby Sevilla sits in one of the busiest areas of Seville, across the street from El Corte Inglés. Many shops, bars, public transportation stops, and restaurants are within easy walking distance. As the hotel is located within the historic district, many attractions -- including Plaza de Armas Shopping Center, Museum of Fine Arts, Giralda, and Seville Cathedral -- are within about a 15 minutes' walk.

Rooms

Simple and dated rooms with small bathrooms

Although rooms have nice hardwood floors and wood furniture that’s in good shape, the overall decor is dated with patterned peach bedspreads and floral patterned curtains. Headboards, doors, and stands are nice and there is some framed art, but the rooms are definitely no-frills. Pillowtop beds receive mixed reviews and there are air-conditioning, minibars, free newspapers, and flat-screen TVs in all rooms. Some rooms also have nice city views. Individual rooms in particular are small with an adjoining tiny bathroom in each, but all bathrooms do have modern, tan tile. Almost every bathroom is on the smaller end with minimal extra room and limited counter space. There are hair dryers and Hotel Derby amenities in all, as well as shower/tub combos and bidets.

Features

Free Wi-Fi and concierge services, a solarium with views, and discounted parking next door

Although there are a bar and cafe, there is no full-service restaurant at Hotel Derby Sevilla. The Mediterranean breakfast buffet is served in the breakfast room for a fee and it receives mixed reviews. Free Wi-Fi is available in addition to concierge services and a 24-hour front desk. A business center is in a closet-like space where there’s little room to move around. There is no on-site parking, but guests can park for a discounted daily fee at El Corte Inglés parking lot across the street. There is a solarium with great city views.
