Rates can be far lower than many area hotels, and the pet-friendly hotel offers free Wi-Fi and parking. 

Popular with beach-loving vacationers, the Saint Augustine Beach House is a breezy property overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, on the sandy shores of Vilano Beach. Sixteen beachy, spacious rooms all have kitchenettes, daybeds, and ocean-facing balconiesand the hotel provides a free breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, and homemade pastries. Pets are allowed for a fee, and there are coin-operated laundry facilities on-site. Parking and hotel-wide Wi-Fi are free. 

It's hard to beat Edgewater Inn's scenic location for the price. The 97-room DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel St. Augustine Historic District is a polished mid-range option with Spanish colonial touches. Its name is a bit of a misnomer, as the hotel is not right in St. Augustine’s historic district. However, it is a 10- to 15-minute walk to most major sights, the the hotel provides free parking. The spacious rooms come with 42-inch flat-screen TVs, microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. Warm cookies are provided at check-in, and the hotel has a heated outdoor pool and large, modern fitness center. 

Southern Oaks Inn is a bit of a hike from St. Augustine's Old Town, but nonetheless, the simple value property with a pool that ticks all of the boxes for a comfortable budget stay. (Plus the location is convenient to two trolleys that go to historic attractions.) Its 124 rooms include mini-fridges, microwaves, and free Wi-Fi, though noise from neighboring rooms can be an issue. The hotel provides a free breakfast with bagels, bacon and eggs, and biscuits and gravy. Despite fees, the hotel goes out of its way for guests with pets, and offers a welcome doggy treat and a grassy dog run.
