The smallest and least expensive of the three Sandals Resorts on St. Lucia, Halcyon is also quieter and more intimate. The 169-room all-inclusive resort features low-rise French-Caribbean style buildings with exposed stone walls and white shuttered windows. Located close to the Castries regional airport (and the reason why many choose to stay here), the residential neighborhood provides a peaceful setting within walking distance of a mile-long stretch of sand, or guests can walk down a series of steps to the hotel's rocky beach. Dated rooms have air-conditioning and private baths, though hot water in the shower is sporadic, as is the free Wi-Fi. Guests who lack their own balcony can head for the shared Sunset Lounge. A small dining area offers a basic breakfast, but there's no lunch or dinner service. For something with more features, including a sandy beach and outdoor pools, check out the mid-range Villa Beach Cottages, though rates are higher.
