Hotel L&B

The Hotel L&B has a vibrant and modern exterior, painted in shades of lime-green and grape-purple, and with shiny plate-glass windows. Out back is a small freeform swimming pool with a hot tub, set in a sunny terrace with plenty of sun loungers. However, the hotel’s interiors are less colorful, with faux-wood panels on the reception desk and lobby walls, and creamy pleather couches dotted around. Rooms are more dated and drab, with teal carpeting and old-fashioned linens. The restaurant, meanwhile, is contemporary, with dark-wood tables and chairs, and a bank of windows looking out over the pool terrace. The L&B attracts a crowd of mostly British couples and groups of friends looking for a good value near the beach.

A 15-minute walk from the town’s sandy beach and coastal road, along which most of the area’s restaurants and nightlife are located, the Hotel L&B is set in a quiet part of Sunny Beach, but with convenient access to town. The Action Aquapark, a water park with fun slides and rides, is a 10-minute walk away, while the Royal Beach Mall, with numerous shops and restaurants, is the same distance in the other direction. Expect transfers to Burgas Airport to take around half an hour, while it’s a drive of between 90 minutes and two hours to Varna Airport.

The 60 rooms at the L&B have had much less attention paid to them than the shared areas downstairs, and feel bare and dated. They have magnolia walls with small single floral artworks, wood furniture, teal carpeting, and drapes and linens with multiple shades of green. Standard Rooms have either a double bed or two twins, a couch, and a desk with an old tube-style TV. Triple Rooms have another single bed in the corner, while Family Rooms have a double and a couch that folds out into another bed. Bathrooms are equally dated, featuring a stand-up shower with a plastic curtain around it, and a hairdryer. All rooms have a large, furnished terrace, as well as a safe, free Wi-Fi, and a mini-fridge. 

The Hotel L&B’s amenities are aimed squarely at visiting tourists. Guests enjoy the food at the hotel’s restaurant, which serves a continental buffet breakfast and English food off an a la carte menu the rest of the day -- they single out the all-day breakfast for particular praise. There is also a poolside bar that serves snacks and drinks throughout the day and into the night. The small freeform pool has a built-in hot tub and is set in a sunny terrace lined by loungers and minimal umbrellas. The hotel has a small shop on-site that sells groceries, necessities, and souvenirs. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, but guests have complained of difficulties getting online.
