Bottom Line

The Grangefield Oasis Club is a mid-range aparthotel in a somewhat inconvenient, isolated location. Previous guests have noted that a rental car would be beneficial here, though a free shuttle bus (reservations required) is available for transfer to the beach. The 155 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments are well-equipped and have air-conditioning, but they're dated and often have maintenance issues. Two outdoor pools and an indoor pool are available, as are spa and fitness facilities, and entertainment for adults and children alike. All-inclusive packages are available, but guests report that food is repetitive and mediocre quality. It's worth comparing rates with the more contemporary and well-maintained Hacienda Puerta del Sol, though it lacks self-catering facilities and is a 15-minute drive to the beach.

Hotel Mijas Costa Oasis

Scene

Apartment-style property with dated interiors and some maintenance issues

From the outside, the Grangefield Oasis Club is lovely, sporting light-orange stucco buildings, terra-cotta pathways, and wooden benches throughout. Lush grounds also have overflowing ivy and bougainvillea, banana trees, and hand-painted planters along the walls, all of which adds charm and character to the property. Interiors, however, are a disappointment. The decor is dated throughout, and past guests report maintenance issues such as peeling paint and damp smells. There are some pleasant, rustic accents, such as wicker furniture, wrought-iron fixtures hanging from wood-beam ceilings, and exposed brick. Most guests are families, and the on-site facilities for both kids and adults are solid for an aparthotel of this size, but refurbishments are needed to make it a good value.

Location

Somewhat isolated location, but six-minute drive to beach

Many previous guests have noted that due to the somewhat isolated location of Grangefield Oasis Club, a taxi or rental car is necessary to get around. There isn't much to do immediately outside of the hotel doors, though a few restaurants and bars can be reached within a 15- to 20-minute walk. The Calahonda beach is about a 25-minute walk (six-minute drive) away, though the walk back is up a hill. The hotel offers shuttle service a few times each day to the beach, but it must be booked in advance and previous guests have warned it gets filled quickly. Nearby cities include Marbella (21-minute drive), Puerto Banus (27-minute drive), and Fuengirola (16-minute drive). Malaga Airport is about 30 minutes away by car.

Rooms

Well-equipped and spacious apartments with dated decor

Grangefield Oasis Club offers large one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments that are somewhat varied in appearance, but largely dated. Linens and upholstery are mismatched and tired, and furniture is another disjointed mix of wood in varying tones and wrought-iron. Some rooms have attractive features such as gray-marble floors, brick fireplaces, and contemporary artwork. Some higher-category rooms do have more modern, coordinated furnishings such as light-wood dining and coffee tables and black sofas with gold detailing. Many rooms have furnished balconies or patios.

Apartments have separate living rooms with adjacent dining sets and kitchens, the latter of which are undoubtedly the most up-to-date looking feature. They have slightly different facilities, but all are well-equipped with stovetops, ovens, microwaves, coffee- and tea-making facilities, toasters, and cookware. Some have washing machines or full-sized refrigerators. Also standard are flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, sofa beds, and Wi-Fi for a fee. Bathrooms vary aesthetically, but all come with shower/tub combos, bidets, free bath products, and hairdryers.

Features

Indoor and outdoor pools, and kid-friendly entertainment options

The Grangefield Oasis Club offers a solid list of amenities for an aparthotel of this size, though quality is inconsistent. There are three total pools, two of which are lovely outdoor pools and one inside by the spa. The wellness area also includes a sauna, whirlpool, and rooms for massages. The small gym has just a few pieces of equipment. A game room and kids' club are available, as are a mini-golf course, tennis court, and playground outside. Food is not a strong point, and previous all-inclusive guests have reported it not being worth it. There are also a poolside bar and restaurant and an indoor bar. Entertainment such as live music or bingo is offered many nights.
