This large resort is set among pine trees near the wide sandy beaches of the Andalusian coast, near the small beach town of Mazagon. Its 383 simple, modern rooms are in line with the '70s-era color scheme of the rest of the property. There's a mini-golf course on site and it's particularly popular with families with children, as is the large, pristine pool which looks out at the ocean. A somewhat steep path leads down to the beach. Some guests have complained that the hotel is understaffed given its size and that rooms could be cleaner. Other complaints include dated facilities and hidden fees for amenities such as use of the kitchenettes in some rooms, and parking and Internet.
Scene
Slightly institutional but bright, and popular with families
Guests have noted that the hotel is filled with children, and that the entertainment provided by the property is geared towards kids. Rooms are spread over a few four-story concrete buildings. The hotel’s lobby and common areas are bright, wide, and handsome, with red chrome and wood surfaces, but overall it has a slightly institutional feeling. There's a colorful fountain in the lobby that's surrounded by hanging vines.
Location
Set among pine trees near the beach on a country road
The property is situated among trees, about a five-minute walk to the beach down a somewhat steep path. Guests have warned that the pathway to the beach can be treacherous and could be dangerous for those with mobility issues. Mazagon is a half-hour walk or a five-minute drive away and there is a no direct link on public transportation to the hotel. Small fishing villages and beach towns dot this part of the coast, which is notable for its calm, sandy beaches and surrounding pine forests.
Rooms
Plain but comfortable
Outfitted in burnt oranges and browns, the rooms here are simple but modern, and feature wood floors, laminate surfaces, large windows, and plenty of electrical outlets. There have been complaints of rooms being less than clean, and rooms near the pool can receive a considerable amount of noise from the entertainment. All rooms have LCD TVs, AC, and bathrooms with a tub and shower combination. Some rooms have kitchenettes with good-size fridges and two-burner hotplates, but use of them incurs a fee.
Features
A large pool and lots of meeting rooms
A spacious outdoor pool wraps around the back of the hotel and is surrounded by well-manicured grounds, but there's no shaded area. Some guests have complained that there aren't enough poolside chairs and loungers to go around. There's also a wide beach accessible by a steep path, large conference rooms, and plenty of kid-friendly amenities, including a children's pool and a mini-golf course.
