Bottom Line

The 22-room Acroplis Museum Boutique Hotel is a mid-range hotel in the heart of Athens' historic center. Ideally located for tourists, the hotel is within walking distance of major attractions such as the Acropolis, Parthenon, and Plaka. Rooms vary in style -- some feel dated and dark, while others feel bright and modern and have balconies -- and can be small, but accommodations are clean and well-maintained. Rates include free breakfast and Wi-Fi, but there are few additional features.

Oyster Hotel Review

Acropolis Museum Boutique Hotel

Scene

Low-lit, but warm, with historic-inspired accents

On the outside, the Acropolis Museum Boutique Hotel is cream-colored, with detailed trimmings and column details that hint at the ancient Greek history celebrated in the area. Inside, the hotel is surprisingly dark, with low lighting in yellow hues. The gold and red painted walls in the lobby and hallways absorb more light than they cast off and are stylized with whirling brush strokes visible on the walls. Modern, bell-shaped sconces and chandeliers add contrast to the historic, regal vibe of the common spaces, which are adorned with Grecian artwork, gold-trimmed chairs, and jacquard curtains.

In the basement, the hotel's breakfast area is even darker. Artwork ranges from pasture scenes to modernist portraits and, designed as several connected rooms, the space has an intimate and friendly air, despite its dimness.

Location

On a major street in a central location near the Acropolis, Parthenon, and more

Set at a major intersection, the Acropolis Museum Boutique Hotel is ideally located for tourists visiting Athens who want to see all the famous sights. As indicated by its name, the hotel is steps from the Acropolis Museum and near many of the monuments of Ancient Greece for which Athens is famous, including the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the Plaka, the Temple of Zeus, and the Hadrian Arch. Just a few minutes walk from the Syngrou metro stop, it also makes getting around the city easy. The surrounding area is busy, with many shops, bars, and restaurants within walking distance, but there are also less savory spots like sex shops nearby.

Rooms

Rooms can be small, and vary in style, but are clean and well-designed.

Rooms at the Acropolis Museum Boutique Hotel are clean and well-kept, though Standard Rooms are not very large. Rooms vary in style, with lower-floor rooms having more dated and ornate decor, including red and orange accent drapes, gold-hued chandeliers, and carved dark wood furniture; higher-floor rooms have cleaner-lined and more modern furnishings, including dark hardwood or tiled floors, a brighter cream or white color palette, and a private balcony. Standard Rooms have double beds, a desk chair, and a vanity, with little wall decoration and the same whimsical bell-shaped lamps of the lobby. Deluxe Rooms offer more breathing room and Family Rooms, with a lofted area with two beds, are great for those traveling with kids. Rooms all have free Wi-Fi and a mini-fridge. Across the board, bathrooms are compact and plain, with small shower stalls, but do include bath products. Coco-Mat mattresses get mixed reviews from past guests.
