Bottom Line

Coral
Harbour Beach House and Villas is a two-and-a-half-pearl hotel located on picturesque
Coral Harbour Beach, on the southwest coast of Nassau. The hotel’s 16 guest
rooms are clean and simple; many offer no-nonsense kitchens with stovetops.
With a serene beach and cute restaurant that hosts live music, the hotel is ideal for guests who want
to escape the crowds of downtown Nassau. Wi-Fi and continental breakfast are free. However, the location may be too
isolated for some, particularly those without rental cars, though it's just a 15-minute drive to the airport. Another downside: no pool. It may be worth comparison shopping with Orange Hill Beach Inn, which is set on the north coast and has a pool, but can also have higher rates.

Scene

Secluded, budget-friendly hotel with a laid-back ambience

The grounds
of Coral Harbour Beach House and Villas are quaint and beachy, with pastel-colored
buildings and thatched roof huts. Sandy, mostly unpaved grounds accentuate the
hotel’s proximity to the beach. Beyond the row of villas, the compact
property stretches back to an airy restaurant and bar that overlooks the coast.
This popular beachfront restaurant adds life to the hotel’s atmosphere, which
could easily feel lonely given its remote location. The hotel
mainly attracts couples, many of whom are interested in skipping Nassau’s party
scene in favor of a more relaxed vacation. Other guests are here for one-night
layovers or pre-/post-cruise stays, choosing the hotel for its easy airport
access.Orange Hill
Beach Inn on the opposite side of the island is also worth considering. Like
Coral Harbour, its decor could use an update, but Orange Hill has a pool and
its location is less isolated but still peaceful.

Location

Out-of-the-way location in Coral Harbour, a short drive from Lynden Pindling International Airport

The hotel
is set in the low-key residential community of Coral Harbour, surrounded almost
exclusively by private homes. The hotel has its own virtually private beach and
a fun restaurant, but otherwise there’s basically nothing to do within walking
distance. Downtown Nassau is about a 30-minute drive away, while the Lynden Pindling International Airport can be reached in a 15-minute drive. The Coral
Harbour Shopping Centre is among the closest places to get food; it’s a 30-minute
walk away. It’s also possible to catch a jitney bus to downtown Nassau from
this shopping center, but service only runs until early evening. Parking at the hotel is free and ample, many guests arrive via rental car.

Rooms

Clean rooms have furnished balconies or patios -- some offer kitchens and separate living areas

Guest rooms
at Coral Harbour are simple and practical with a hodgepodge of decor. Most
rooms don’t have a single piece of matching furniture, and the linens look like
they have been chosen at random. Even in rooms with two twin beds, one bed will sport a wooden headboard while the other will be white wrought iron. All rooms
have work desks, microwaves, and mini-fridges. Free Wi-Fi and small
wall-mounted TVs are also included. Some rooms include separate living areas, as well as basic kitchens with four-burner stove-tops and small selections of cookware. Furnished patios or balconies in some units mainly offer
views of the hotel’s restaurant and sandy parking lot, though some offer partial ocean views.No-frills
bathrooms include shower/tub combos and old-fashioned fixtures. Countertops provide minimal space; they're stocked
with off-brand bottles of shampoo and conditioner, as well as bars of soap.

Features

Buzzing ocean view restaurant, direct access to pretty Coral Harbour Beach, and free continental breakfast

The hotel's star feature is its direct access to Coral Harbour Beach, an appealing strip of sand with white plastic lounge chairs and a few hammocks. The beach is far enough away from downtown that it’s rarely busy, and activities such as kayaking and horseback riding are offered. But it's worth noting that this property lacks a pool.Coral
Harbour’s breezy restaurant and bar, Sand Bar Beach Restaurant, serves a mix of
Bahamian and international fare along with beautiful ocean views. The bar
attracts a lively crowd of locals and hotel guests, and hosts regular music
performances. Free breakfast is served in a bland room with indoor and outdoor seating -- the outdoor seats mainly overlook the hotel’s parking lot. For rainy days, there's a drab games room
with a pool table. Free parking is offered on-site, and free Wi-Fi is available
throughout.
