The mid-range Flor Parks Hotel offers a great location on Las Ramblas, about a one-minute walk to the Liceu metro station, a short walk to the Mercada de la Boqueria, Placa Catalunya and other sights. Renovated in 2010,
it’s a basic yet tidy and quiet hotel with a chic sundeck. The adjacent restaurant and lounge will deliver breakfast to guests' rooms, and serves meals and cocktails throughout the day. Its 26 rooms
are rather narrow with ho-hum decor, but they're clean and have mini-fridges
and spacious marble bathrooms. Reasonable rates make the Flor Parks a solid choice for anyone seeking
to stay on Las Ramblas. But the Yurbban
Trafalgar Hotel in El Born offers more modern and stylish
accommodations, and a rooftop pool, for only slightly higher rates.
Scene
Quaint and quiet hotel in the midst of bustling Ramblas
This hotel’s location along the bustling Las
Ramblas attracts pre- and post-cruise ship passengers from Port Vell and tourists seeking to stay within walking distance of many of the attractions. Many guests have
commented on how quiet the hotel is, given its location on the bustling Ramblas. The
lobby is a bit dark with low ceilings but handsome nonetheless. Light-pink
marble on the floor and staircase give it a classy ambience, and the reception desk
is framed by nice wood paneling. A brown-leather sofa sits opposite the front desk, and several more matching sofas and armchairs are arranged
around wood coffee tables in an adjacent space just off the lobby. It’s a
comfortable place to relax, with a big-screen TV and pleasant artwork depicting
scenes from the nearby port. Like many Barcelona hotels, it has a lovely
rooftop sundeck that overlooks the old city.
Location
On Las Ramblas, near Port Vell and Placa Catalunya in the Gothic Quarter
The Flor Parks Hotel is located at the
mid-point of bustling Las Ramblas, surrounded by restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. It’s a one-minute walk to the Liceu metro
station and the Gran Teatre del Liceu. The aerobus artery at Placa Catalunya is
a 10-minute walk, as is the Cathedral Barcelona de la Seu. The Picasso
Museum is an 11-minute walk, and El Born district is 15 minutes away on
foot. Port Vell is a nine-minute drive or 20 minutes by public transportation, and Sagrada Familia (Gaudi's historic landmark) is about 20 minutes away by car, taxi, or public transportation. The Barcelona-El Prat Airport is about 40 minutes away by public
transportation or a 25-minute drive. Parking garages are located along Las Ramblas.
Rooms
Clean rooms with nice marble bathrooms and mini-fridges, but no coffeemakers
Renovated in 2010, the 26 guest rooms at Flor Parks Hotel are clean and functional but
have rather bland and basic decor. Grayish-blue bedspreads with green accents
and matching decorative pillows cover the beds, which have green bed
skirts. The blackout drapes match the bedspreads’ blue color, and armchairs and
office chairs have green upholstery. Matching furniture includes light-wood desk/dresser combos, nightstands, headboards, small side tables, and a luggage rack. Walls are an off-white/light gray shade. The light beige marble-tile floors are a highlight of the rooms, which come in Standard Double (two twins pushed together), Twin (two twins), and Triple
(three twins) bed options. Bathrooms are more generously sized and upscale,
with matching tan marble tile on the floors, walls, and framing the base of the
shower/tub combos, which have clear glass doors and hand-held showerheads. Some tubs
have whirlpool jets. Vanities are spacious and made of white and brown marble, and bidets are included. Many rooms have small, narrow balconies that
overlook either the street or a courtyard and garden area. While all rooms are
relatively quiet, those overlooking the street tend to pick up more noise.
Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, phones, electronic safes, mini-fridges,
and free Wi-Fi, although reception can be spotty.
Features
Spacious sundeck, attached restaurant, and concierge services
This is a basic hotel with limited amenities, but it’s
location on Las Ramblas lessens the impact. The hotel has no on-site restaurant, but the restaurant/lounge next door offers breakfast and other meals
throughout the day (at discounts to hotel guests) and cocktails at night.
Guests can even have breakfast delivered. A spacious rooftop sundeck gives a stylish perch with comfy loungers. Concierge services are offered for
things like tickets to attractions and help arranging transportation. Meeting space is available, and a computer station with Internet access and
printer in the lobby serves as the business center. Free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the property, but some
guests report that it's spotty. The reception desk is staffed 24/7, and free
newspapers are available in the lobby. Valet laundry services are available as well. Jewelry is offered for sale from a small
case in the lobby. Pets are allowed. Parking garages are located nearby on Las Ramblas, but there is no
parking at the hotel itself.
