The 19 guest rooms vary in size and are individually styled in tasteful period decor with antiques and original artworks -- though some have past guests have reported poor internal soundproofing. Breakfast is served in a lovely and bright dining room, combining homemade items with cooked-to-order dishes, and is universally praised. Nearby competition includes the Villa Magdala, which also has excellent breakfast and a funkier modern vibe, but it's a little farther from center.
Scene
Family-run bed-and-breakfast set in perfectly preserved Georgian townhouse
Occupying a row of late 18th-century houses, a small sign is the only indication of Henrietta House's presence. Stepping through the arched entrance of this Georgian townhouse, guests are immediately presented with wonderfully preserved interiors, complete with original molded coving, flagstone flooring, and high ceilings. Further period touches such as a marble fireplace, gilt-framed mirror, and sash windows add to the property's traditionally elegant atmosphere. The owner's art collection consisting of old oil paintings and colorful modern pieces, as well as vases filled with freshly cut flowers, can be found scattered throughout. A family-run business, the property treads a line between boutique hotel and bed and breakfast, with a friendly and casual atmosphere fostered by attentive staff with a personal touch. Clientele is mostly domestic, with a mix of couples, families, and groups in town for short breaks or special occasions.
Location
Scenic and central residential neighborhood, within walking distance from Roman Baths
Henrietta House is located on a charming street of the same name among a largely residential though central neighborhood within walking distance of most of Bath's main attractions. Pulteney Bridge that crosses the River Avon is just a few minutes' walk away, with most of this picturesque city's numerous cafes, restaurants, and shops on the other side. The Holburne Museum, Bath Abby, and famous Roman Baths are all around five minutes away on foot, while the Thermae Bath Spa is 10 minutes. There's also the pretty and peaceful Henrietta Park just around the corner. The main Bath Spa Train Station is within 10 minutes' walk, and connects to London's Paddington Station in an hour and a half.
Rooms
Individually styled rooms with period features and traditional decor
The hotel's 19 guest rooms come in a variety of types and sizes, from Singles to two-bedroom suites. Decor is very much in keeping with the rest of the property, with rooms individually styled in a smart and traditional mix of muted tones, original artworks, and antique pieces. Most include original Georgian architectural features such as fireplaces, decorative cornices, and wooden shutters, plus shelves filled with books. Due to age of building, lack of soundproofing between rooms can be an issue. Amenities include flat-screen TVs (15- or 27-inch with Freeview channels), electronic safes, and coffee- and tea-making facilities; in-room Wi-Fi is free and fast. Two rooms open to small balconies, while garden rooms open directly to a small leafy patio. Views are mostly over the street or rear houses, though top-level rooms look to the distant green hills. Bathrooms are finished in traditional white tiles with walk-in showers or shower/tub combos, wall-mounted hairdryers, and quality toiletries.

Excellent freshly cooked breakfast with daily juices and homemade options
Served in a bright and airy basement dining room, the free breakfast is certainly a highlight at Henrietta House. A continental buffet includes homemade jams and granola, plus there's a choice of at least eight cooked-to-order dishes such as smoked kippers, buttermilk pancakes, and scrambled eggs. Guests are more than welcome to choose more than one and freshly squeezed juices change daily. There's no full restaurant, however. Those arriving by car have two parking options, on the street or private off-street parking, with the latter the more expensive option. Free and fast Wi-Fi is available throughout, though aside from the lobby lounge, there's nowhere to relax outside guest rooms.
