Bottom Line

The 337-room Westin Bellevue is an upscale contemporary hotel spread over 19 floors located in the heart of Bellevue, next to high-end shopping and dining. This property offers an excellent array of facilities, including a 25-meter indoor pool, a full-service spa, and three innovative dining and drinking venues. Clean, contemporary guest rooms feature plush Westin Heavenly Beds along with minibars, coffeemakers, and small flat-screen TVs. Given its location near the Bellevue-Redmond tech hub, it's a good choice for business travelers, though the main sights of Seattle are not nearby. It's also a good choice for tourists who appreciate the pool and other leisure facilities, and access to downtown Bellevue shopping and dining. There is a pesky fee for Wi-Fi in the rooms.

Oyster Hotel Review

Contemporary, upscale hotel with indoor pool and spa

The interiors at the Westin Bellevue are contemporary, upscale, and well constructed in the Westin mold with glass, wood, and granite. Guests enter to a largely white lobby with high ceilings, good natural light, colorful modern art on the walls, slate-blue soft seating, and bright-yellow lighting. The atmosphere at the Westin reflects the energy of the hotel's surroundings on bustling Bellevue Way in the heart of downtown Bellevue. The hotel draws mostly business and tech types, especially during the week, who will find everything they need on-site including a business center and three appealing dining options. Leisure travelers appreciate the 25-meter indoor pool, excellent spa, and top-notch dining. Shoppers like the closeness to Bellevue Square, Lincoln Square, and the Shops at Bravern, but at a 20-minute drive from Seattle, it's not great for tourists who want proximity to city attractions. Overall the atmosphere is sharp and refined, with quality 24-hour service.

Central Bellevue Way location next to shopping and dining

The Westin features an excellent location on Bellevue Way in the heart of downtown Bellevue. There are a wide variety of restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel. Bellevue Art Museum is next door and the Lincoln Square shopping center and movie theater can be directly accessed via an entrance on the hotel's third floor. The upscale Bellevue Square Mall and Downtown Park is across the street. The area with Meydenbauer Center event venue and Shops at Bravern shopping and dining center is an eight-minute walk east. The I-405 freeway is a three-minute drive east and the I-90 freeway is a 10-minute drive south of the hotel. The Microsoft campus is a 12-minute drive northeast. Located a 20-minute drive west, Seattle feels a bit far from the hotel, and features attractions such as the Mariners and Seahawks stadiums, Pioneer Square, the Pike Place Market, and Space Needle. The Westin is a 25-minute drive northeast of Sea-Tac Airport.

Spacious, upscale rooms with plush beds and flat-screen TVs

Housed in a 19-floor building, the 337 non-smoking rooms at the Westin come in Traditional, Deluxe, Grand Deluxe, Corner Studio Suites, and Executive Suites configurations. Renovated in 2012, rooms are clean, contemporary, and in good condition, and despite the hotel's location on bustling Bellevue Way, are quiet. They get good natural light and are spacious, ranging in size from 325 square feet in the Traditional category to over 2000 square feet in the largest suites. Rooms are upscale and pleasantly understated with all-white cotton bedding, beige curtains and carpet, and dark wood furnishings. Signature Westin Heavenly Bed with down comforters, thick mattresses, and 250-thread-count cotton sheets are standard and turndown service is available upon request.

All rooms feature desks with ergonomic chairs, in-room safes, coffeemakers, minibars, Wi-Fi (for a fee in the rooms, for free in the lobby for first two hours of use) and flat-screen TVs with premium cable (including HBO and Showtime). TVs are a little small for this level of hotel, at only 32 inches. Some rooms have some combination of sofa beds, floor-to-ceiling windows, balconies, mountain views, and sitting areas. Mini-fridges are available upon request. The excellent bathrooms have good lighting, ample counter space, make-up mirrors, high-end bath products, bathrobes, and rain showers with bathtubs. Up to two pets (dogs only), 25 pounds or under, are allowed for a one-time fee.

Indoor 25-meter lap pool, 24-hour fitness studio, full-service spa, and fine dining

The Westin offers a superb array of property amenities. Guests can enjoy a genuine lap swim in the 25-meter indoor pool, set in an inviting space with floor-to-ceiling windows and good natural light. Adjacent to the pool are an indoor hot tub and outdoor deck, with food and beverage service available on the deck via room service. The excellent 24-hour fitness studio offers a wide range of cardio and weight equipment, and features views of downtown Bellevue and Mount Rainier. Guests who didn't pack workout gear can rent clothes and shoes from the hotel for a nominal fee. Men's and women's locker rooms are available. The contemporary full-service spa features tropical botanicals in its treatments, with a wide range of massages including Thai and bamboo fusion massages.

The Westin's lobby-level restaurant serves European-inspired regional American fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with specialties such as a chopped salad, garganelli pasta, steak frites, and pan-seared scallops. Alfresco dining is available in summer. The lobby-level lounge and wine bar serves imaginative renderings of classic American dishes paired with Northwest wines, and served in a modern dining room with Northwest natural elements, local photography, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a fireplace. Seasonal alfresco dining is available, and the lounge also features monthly live music and wine events. The third on-site restaurant serves contemporary cuisine with local organic ingredients, with an emphasis on Northwest seafood, prime steaks, and seasonal vegetables and berries. The Westin offers 24-hour room service. The hotel also has a 24-hour business center (fee for Internet and printing), including a boarding pass kiosk. Parking is available, for a fee on weeknights and free of charge on Friday and Saturday nights. Wi-Fi is available throughout, but is only free in the lobby for the first two hours of use.
