Servigroup Castilla

The Castilla is housed in a tall tower similar to most other buildings around it, with a boxy white-and-yellow facade lined with balconies, and a spacious pool deck with tropical plants to one side. Interiors are bright and colorful, but some of the decor clashes. The lobby's polished floors and large windows don't seem to match the lilac walls and wicker furniture with cushions in a grandmotherly flower print. Overstuffed white leather couches and shaggy red carpeting add an '80s vibe. The restaurant aims for a modern look with transparent blue plastic chairs placed around blue tables, but the burgundy chairs in the bar go for a more classic appearance.With just 132 rooms, the Castilla is a small hotel by Benidorm standards. It draws older couples and families looking to spend some chill days in the sun rather than hit the bars every night, which makes for a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere than other mid-range hotels in the area.

The hotel is located on a quiet street off one of Benidorm’s main avenues. It's a built-up area home to many hotels and residences, but the atmosphere is less bustling than in areas closer to the action in New Town. There are plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants, and shops within a short walk, and public buses stop a five-minute walk from the hotel. This location is also convenient for those looking to explore the hopping nightlife scene in both the Old and the New Towns, both within a 15-minute walk of the Castilla. Levante Beach is an eight-minute walk down the street, and Poniente Beach can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes. The hotel is a 15-minute drive from Terra Mitica theme park, and a 45-minute drive from the airport. The Servigroup Castilla offers private indoor parking for a daily fee.

The hotel’s 132 rooms are decorated in a generic, somewhat dated style with thin red bedspreads, beige tile floors, and old-fashioned flowery curtains in beige and red hues. Pale yellow walls and framed panels of Elephant-print fabric above the bed add some style, but rooms are simple overall, and have basic wooden furniture. All units have large windows opening onto spacious balconies with plastic furniture and a clothes rack; they offer views of the pool deck or the city. Amenities are the same in all rooms, and include free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs with over 60 international and local channels. There is a fee for use of in-room safes, and air-conditioning and heating are only available seasonally. Beige-tiled bathrooms are clean but simple, with shower/tub combos, wall-mounted hairdryers, and a small selection of toiletries. 

Features at this Servigroup are solid and similar to other properties in the chain. The hotel has one main restaurant, serving a varied buffet spread for all three meals in an airy dining room. Food here gets good reviews, both for its quality and for its variety. Breakfast is included in all rates, and offers a wide array of hot and cold items, as well as gluten-free options. The bar serves drinks and a few small snacks such as chips and candy, and features plenty of indoor seating along a few tables on a terrace overlooking the pool deck. The pool is smallish but pleasant, with a quiet atmosphere, and lots of loungers on two concrete sundecks decorated with a few plants. A shallow plunge pool and a playground are convenient amenities for families. The small fitness center has an updated feel, with laminate floors, natural light, and a handful of cardio and strength-training machines. There is a small sauna in the locker room, but it costs an extra fee. The hotel also features meeting space and evening entertainment. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout.
