Boca Raton Plaza Hotel and Suites

A relaxed and friendly atmosphere emanates throughout this plain and fairly simple hotel, which welcomes guests in a cream-hued lobby with a large fountain at its center. Floor-to-ceiling windows fill the space with natural light. Beige couches and armchairs, some festooned with a subtle pattern, provide seating in this simple, but pleasant, space, while various potted plants scattered about bring fresh bursts of green to the monochrome hues. The hotel's Our Place Restaurant & Bar has a sports bar feel with wood chairs and glass block windows in addition to tiled floors and an exposed brick wall. There are two large bar areas -- one topped with wood while the other has tan granite countertops -- as well as several flat-screen TVs tuned to sports channels. Overall, the hotel features dated decor and some furnishings are worn, but spaces are pleasant and the property offers a good value in a convenient location.

The Boca Raton Plaza Hotel and Suites is situated on a commercial street with restaurants and James A. Rutherford Park less than a 15-minute walk away. Spanish River Park, the beach, Mizner Park, and the Boca Raton Museum of Art are around a five-minute drive from the property, while South Beach Park, Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton Airport are a seven-minute drive. Town Center at Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach Pier are 10 minutes away and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport can be reached in about 30 minutes.

Rooms are plain and basic, with bland decor that's a bit dated: green carpets, tan bed runners and drapes, and white walls adorned with a few pieces of tropical art. A mixture of simple wooden and wicker furniture includes chairs, dressers, and small tables, and all rooms have 32-inch flat-screen TVs as well as wet bar areas with microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers. Suites add balconies with wicker seating as well as separate living rooms with sleeper sofas. Simple, contemporary bathrooms have tan marble vanities, shower/tub combos, and limited toiletries provided. Most rooms, however, lack natural light and furnishings show signs of wear and tear. Additionally, many guests complain that the air-conditioning units are weak and fail to keep the rooms cool. 

A lovely outdoor pool has an accompanying small hot tub and is surrounded by a sun deck with beige lounge chairs and shaded tables. The poolside tiki bar offers tropical cocktails, burgers, sandwiches, and salads, and is popular with guests and locals alike. Tasty dishes like Philly cheesesteaks, French Toast, salmon, steaks, and lobster are served at Our Place Restaurant & Bar, and there is a daily happy hour offered. Breakfast is available with an added cost.The fitness center is equipped with cardio and weight machines as well as flat-screen TVs and there's also a 24/7 business center in the lobby with a computer, plus printing and copying services. Concierge and room services are also provided. There is free Wi-Fi throughout, but guests complain it is slow.
