Bottom Line

The Pinnacle Hotel At The Pier is an upscale property built directly in front of Vancouver's working harbor in the North Shore. The location isn't the most convenient for those who want to explore downtown Vancouver, but it provides fast access to the cruise port and water-based activities. The hotel houses full-time residences which is why the gym, yoga studio, and lap pool are more like professional apartment amenities than hotel features. The Lobby Restaurant gets good marks for seafood. Rooms are spacious and contemporary. Though views of the harbor are picturesque, the accompanying industrial noise from the neighboring ship yard is less than idyllic.

Oyster Hotel Review

Pinnacle Hotel At The Pier

Scene

Multistory hotel on the harbor

The Pinnacle building looks new and well-maintained indoors and out. The exterior evokes imagery of a sailboat which is very appropriate considering the location. Indoors, the lobby is professional with a clean and simple elegance. Modern white armchairs sit in front of the concierge desk. Nearby, a sweeping glass staircase leads to the second floor. The Lobby Restaurant is located behind the reception desk. The space has floor-to-ceiling windows and a circular modern chandelier overhead. Outdoor seating is jazzed up with red umbrellas and flowers on the white gate separating the dining space from the wooden pier.

The hotel caters to business travelers and cruise ship patrons due to its proximity to the port.

Location

Directly on the harbor in front of a shipyard

The hotel is located right in front of Vancouver's harbor and next to a massive working shipyard, which allows guests to see the inner workings of the industrial import/export scene -- a plus or a minus depending on the individual. The up and coming neighborhood includes some trendy restaurants and storefronts but it's a 30-minute drive to downtown Vancouver. This location may appeal to those wanting to take in the tourist attractions of the North Shore such as Grouse Mountain or the Capilano Suspension bridge. There's a charge for parking on-site.

Rooms

Contemporary rooms and suites with some balconies

There are 106 rooms at Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier and each is decorated with contemporary decor in shades of purple and brown. Even the most economical rooms are spacious and some have large balconies overlooking the harbor. Industrial noise from the shipyard is less than appealing, but it's not as noticeable with the windows and balcony door closed. Mini-fridges, microwaves, Keurig coffeemakers, and flat-screen TVs are standard. Wi-Fi is free. The bathrooms include shower/tub combinations covered by a white fabric curtain and single sinks. Toiletries and a makeup mirror are provided.

Features

Indoor lap pool, huge fitness center, and on-site restaurant

Features at the Pinnacle are above-and-beyond for this price point. The indoor lap pool is enormous and has large windows overlooking the neighborhood. There's an adjacent whirlpool which comes in handy for soaking sore muscles after using the professional fitness center with Cybex cardio equipment and yoga studio. Lobby Restaurant gets great reviews for seafood and coastal inspired cuisine though breakfast isn't included with the price of a room. Staff can arrange flight tours of the area. Bike rentals and Wi-Fi are free perks.
