Bottom Line

The Adornes is a 20-room, mid-range, historic hotel in a choice location away from the bustle of the city center, but still within walking distance of restaurants, shops, public transportation, and tourist attractions. Rooms do not have air-conditioning and include only the essentials, but there are charming antique accents such as wood beams that make the space feel cozy and welcoming. Noise may be an issue for front-facing rooms, though there are beautiful views of the Potterierei Canal and other historic buildings from this vantage point. There is free breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking; however, the Wi-Fi is only available in public areas and the parking is off-site. This hotel is pet-friendly (daily fee) and offers free rental bikes and an advantage card for discounts on attractions.

Adornes

Scene

A family hotel with historic accents on a pretty canal

Antique wood beams, windows, and brick decorate the historic Hotel Adornes and give it a comfortable, lived-in atmosphere; out the front door are the canal and picturesque views. The breakfast room houses an original fireplace, simple hard-backed wood chairs, and red tablecloths, as well as big, bright windows. A cozy 17th century sitting room in the cellar has a unique gorilla-shaped wood-burning stove in addition to plush leather and red fabric seating. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the public areas of the property and the Hotel Adornes is pet-friendly (only small pets, with a daily fee). Although there are few luxurious extras, the hotel has a quaint, homey feeling.

Rooms

Clean, minimalist rooms with historic charm

At the Hotel Adornes, rooms vary in size to accommodate different kinds of travelers. While the Small Double Room is indeed small, the Large Double Room and Triple Room have enough space to accommodate families. Antique exposed beams, original windows, and wood furniture make the space feel intimate while red accents in the paint, pillows, and curtains add much needed color to the otherwise stark design. All rooms include a decent-size flat-screen TV and simple toiletries. Some bathrooms are small while others are much larger, but all include a shower/tub combo and bright white tile. Coffee/tea items are available only upon request. Mosquito nets are provided as there is no air-conditioning and guests may have to open the windows to cool down. Front rooms have exceptional views of the Potterierei Canal and historic buildings across the street; however, there is traffic noise at certain times of the night. None of the rooms have Wi-Fi.
