Complaints of street noise
Situated in central Brugge between a river and the Markt, Martin’s Brugge has a chain-like vibe and not a lot going for it beyond its convenient location. The 199 rooms lack personality, but they come with flat-screen TVs and smallish bathrooms. Basic Wi-Fi is free, though faster connections cost a premium. While the property does have eight meeting rooms, there’s no gym or on-site restaurant, and there’s hefty fees for parking and the breakfast buffet. For just a bit more per night, Oud Huis de Peellaert is a good central alternative and has a sauna, a gym, and kettles in the rooms.
Scene
Mid-range business hotel with contemporary decor
The mid-range Martin’s Brugge is a business hotel with a prime location in central Brugge, but it's lacking in terms of ambiance. The lobby is contemporary, with a chain-like atmosphere -- think: tiled floors, modern purple armchairs, and red footstools. Hallways are characterized by colorful statement walls and drab gray carpet. The breakfast room is possibly the most attractive space in the hotel, with tiled floors, wooden tables, and cream contemporary chairs complemented by a backdrop of royal-purple walls and columns. There's also a bar with red carpeting and wicker chairs plus tiny tables. The hotel attracts both business travelers and tourists -- mostly couples -- though groups of friends and families stay here, too.
Location
Central location in Bruges, close to attractions, restaurants, and shops
Martin’s Brugge is located on a busy street in central Bruges, near shops and restaurants and just two minutes on foot from the Djiver River. The Markt plaza is also a two-minute walk away, while the Belfry takes only a minute to reach. The Church of Our Lady is six minutes away on foot. For those looking to travel to the edges of the city or don’t wish to walk, there’s a bus stop that’s in front of the hotel. It’s a 35-minute drive to Ostend-Bruges International Airport.
Rooms
Chain-like, contemporary rooms with flat-screen TVs and minibars
Martin’s Brugge has 199 contemporary rooms with chain decor including statement walls, beds with white linen and bed runners, and simple furniture. In general, rooms are tidy but rather forgettable. Amenities include flat-screen TVs and air-conditioning, but there are no coffee- and tea-making facilities. Bathrooms are small overall, with limited counter space, and come with hairdryers, toiletries, and either walk-in showers or shower/tub combos. Note that some past guests have complained of street noise.
Features
Bar, breakfast buffet, meeting rooms, and public computer
Martin’s Brugge is a little light on property facilities, with no fitness center or on-site restaurant. However, the hotel does offer a bar with drinks and light snacks, plus a decent, but pricey, breakfast buffet. There are eight on-site meeting rooms for business travelers, as well as a public computer. Basic Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, but high-speed internet costs extra. Underground parking is available, but it’s expensive.
