Oyster Hotel Review

Fresh and bright, with spots for socializing or curling up by the lobby fire

The Courtyard by Marriott Burlington Harbor has a rustic-chic vibe, despite its chain hotel status, and there are plenty of local touches throughout the interiors. A local photographer's work hangs on the walls, and the restaurant is decorated in peaceful blues that reflect nearby Lake Champlain, and the hotel's bar even pours local beers. There are plenty of comfortable spots to socialize or curl up by a roaring fire with the day’s newspaper. A TV mounted over the fireplace is a popular spot for watching movies from a cluster of upholstered couches and armchairs. Coffee and tea are available in the lobby all day, and in the afternoons, there are cookies at the front desk for the taking. Even the fitness center is sunny and cheerful, with large photographs of local sporting events hung for inspiration. Nothing about this Courtyard feels like a chain; rather, it reflects the vibe and sensibility of its crisp and picturesque surroundings and draws couples, families, and business travelers in droves.

In central Burlington, surrounded by shops, restaurants, and parks

The Courtyard by Marriott Burlington Harbor is located in Burlington Town Center, between Lake Champlain and the Church Street Marketplace. There is plenty to do within walking distance, including a variety of shops and restaurants. Waterfront Park, the Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center, Battery Park, and the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception are all within a 10-minute walk. There are spas and lake beaches nearby, as well as golf courses, including Kwiniaska and Rocky Ridge, both of which are about a 20-minute drive from the hotel. Runners and walkers can take advantage of the park located across the street. Allow about 20 minutes to drive to Burlington International Airport.

Clean, bright, and spacious, with stylish decor and lake views from some

The 161 rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott Burlington Harbor are bright, spacious, and clean, with stylish decor that continues the local charms of the hotel's public spaces. Beds have good-looking cherry headboards in front of birch-inspired wallpapered accent walls and striking photographs of Lake Champlain and surrounding landscapes pop against the gray and white palette. Rooms are available in a variety of configurations, though the look is the same across the board, and each room comes with a large desk and ergonomic desk chair. Floor plans are spacious and start at 27 square meters (300 square feet). Standard amenities include 42-inch flat-screen TVs with pay movies, free daily newspapers, and mini-fridges, although there are no in-room safes. Higher-priced rooms have stunning views of Lake Champlain, which might be worth the extra money. Bathrooms are big and modern, with shower/tub combos, marble floors and granite vanities with plenty of counter space, plus toiletries. King suites come with separate soaking tubs and walk-in showers, and Spa King Rooms have high-end whirlpool tubs with windows that look onto bedrooms.

Indoor pool, well-equipped fitness center, and stylish restaurant and bar

The Courtyard by Marriott Burlington Harbor features an indoor saltwater pool and spa tub, both of which are ADA accessible. The fitness center is bright and includes a variety of cardio machines, as well as free weights, kettle bells, and medicine balls. There are picnic and barbecue areas around the grounds for guests' use. The hotel restaurant, Bleu Northeast Seafood, serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch, featuring regional seafood on the menu. Room service is available with limited hours and breakfast is not included in room rates. The Bar at Bleu offers local beers, wines, and craft cocktails in a peaceful, but still hip, atmosphere. For late-night cravings, there is a 24-hour convenience store in the lobby. The Courtyard's meeting and event rooms are spacious and flexible, with additional space available in the landscaped garden area. Catering and event planning services are offered upon request. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
