Best Kid-Friendly Hotels in Cairo

Cairo is a treasure trove for adventurous families. There’s so much to explore: hieroglyphics, gold coins, mummies, and King Tutankhamun’s riches at Egyptian Museum (don’t forget its Children’s Museum!); the Nile River (by way of a ride on an old-fashioned wood sail boat); and, of course, the magnificent Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. Need more ideas? The rambling Khan al-Khalili bazaar, the 80-acre Giza Zoo, and Aquarium Grotto Garden — an aquatic wonderland located on an island in the middle of the Nile — all make for exciting agenda items for a family vacation. With so much to do and see in Cairo, families may not consider hotel kids’ clubs and other kid amenities to be crucial factors for determining where to stay. But for families looking for good locations, well-sized rooms, and various dining options — and maybe even kiddy pools and babysitting service — Oyster’s got you covered. We sent our expert hotel investigators to Cairo to uncover the area’s best hotels for families.

JW Marriott Hotel Cairo

Cairo, Egypt

For families wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city center, the JW Marriott Hotel Cairo is a great choice. The 438-room luxury hotel is located near Cairo Festival City Mall, a large shopping complex that is home to KidZania, a popular attraction for families. But there's plenty to do on-site, too; the resort-like hotel has threepools, a man-made beach, tennis courts, a kids' club, and playground, and its 12 eateries should please even the pickiest diner. Handsome rooms have traditional decor, balconies, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and marble bathrooms with separate tubs. Freebies like hotel-wide Wi-Fi and airport transfers add to the value here.

Heliopolis Towers Hotel

Cairo, Egypt

The 247-room Fairmont Towers Heliopolis is a luxury business hotel, but a surprisingly family-friendly one, with facilities for kids like a kids' pool, outdoor playground, round-the-clock babysitting, a kids' club for those aged 6 to 12, and a special weekly brunch for families with activities including face painting and arts and crafts. Features that appeal to all ages include tennis courts, multiple pools, a fitness center, 15 bars and restaurants, and even an on-site casino with slots and table games. Room decor falls a bit short for an advertised five-star hotel, but the rooms have all of the modern amenities one would expect of a high-end property, plus bathrooms with separate tubs. They're also huge -- rooms start at 538 square feet. The hotel is far from the city center, but near Cairo International Airport and the Child Museum of Cairo.
