Built in 2000, Villaggio Oasis is a village-style resort consisting of 165 rooms in bungalow format a few hundred feet from the beach. This property caters to families in particular, with its large number of outdoor play areas and kids’ entertainment. Rooms are plain and dated, and some guests have complained of mustiness, likely due to high humidity near the sea. There are three pools on-site, and a beach with beach bar nearby. A special asset of the property, and one that most can agree favorably upon, is the food, which is geared towards healthy cooking.
Scene
Family-oriented resort laid out like a small village
The rooms here consist of freestanding, peach-colored villa buildings, either situated independently or in small clusters. All buildings are a single story tall, including the lobby, with its simple ceramic-tile floors and bulky couches. Italian families with young children constitute a large percentage of the guests here, often resulting in a noisy atmosphere.
Location
A few hundred feet from the sea; four and a half miles to Paestum
Villaggio Oasis obligingly runs a shuttle service to the beach, which is especially convenient for the youngest (and oldest) guests; in the past this has consisted of a small train, which may sometimes be replaced by a van. The property is situated a seven-minute walk from a dark-sand beach; some guests have noted the waters on this part of the coast are not particularly clear, owing to the quality of the sand.
Rooms
Dated rooms with ceramic tile floors, bedspreads from the '90s, and teal, lacquered furniture
The fairly small rooms here feature severely dated decor, but most guests have noted they are clean and relatively comfortable, if plain and occasionally musty from the seaside humidity. Each of the freestanding bungalow-style apartments has a covered veranda with patio furniture, a wall-mounted or desktop flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge, air-conditioning, and a hairdryer. Larger rooms have a full bath and a double-sink vanity while smaller rooms have stall showers.
Features
Three pools, several play areas, children’s entertainment, and a restaurant that receives strong reviews
There are three pools, of which one is contained within a children’s play area and is specifically meant for kids, though their activity is by no means limited to this one; some adults have complained all pools can get overrun by children. The two larger ones are surrounded by handsome wooden decks flanked by tropical vegetation; one of these two has a gradual entry suitable for swimming with children. The food receives almost consistently good reviews from guests, though some have noted that, within the all-inclusive, there is inflexibility if children have special needs. There is no food service at the covered beach bar.
