Cape Cod Harbor House Inn is a typical motel-style building made of brick with two stories and balconies running along the second floor. It’s popular with vacationing couples and families exploring Cape Cod and the nearby islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard thanks to being walking distance to Hyannis harbor and the ferry terminal. There are common spaces in the reception area, on the small outdoor patio, and in the seating areas on the second-floor balconies. The reception area is cozy and bright, with knotty-pine wood floors and cheerful blue walls with white trim; guests can sit at the wooden tables and chairs while browsing tourism brochures from the display near the broad windows. White wicker furniture with blue-striped cushions decorates the wooden balconies. The friendly and helpful owners are popular with guests and are happy to accommodate pets.

Cape Cod Harbor House Inn is located directly across from Hyannis Harbor and near the departure and arrival point of Hy-Line ferries, making this a convenient base for day trips to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Main Street and its shops, pubs, and restaurants are only a five-minute walk away. Also within a five-minute walk are Hyannis Harbor, the ferry terminal, and the Cape Cod Maritime Museum. John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum is a seven-minute walk. Veteran's Park Beach is 13 minutes away on foot, and Kalmus Park Beach is a five-minute drive. 

The more modern rooms at Cape Cod Harbor House Inn are tastefully decorated in a classic style with wooden floorboards and elegant furniture that includes paisley-patterned armchairs, dark wood TV cabinets, brown-cushioned futons, and small wooden tables and chairs. Other rooms, however, are dated with signs of wear and tear and bathrooms that need updating. The rooms on the second floor open out to balconies with sitting areas overlooking the parking lot, and some rooms have a view of the harbor. Rooms are not well-insulated from noise and guests staying on the first floor can be disturbed by the sound of people walking on the hardwood floors above. All rooms have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, ironing facilities, and attached kitchenettes with stoves/ovens, microwaves, mini-fridges, small sinks, coffeemakers, and cutlery and cookware. Bathrooms are also varied in terms of their modernity, but all have shower/tub combos and wall-mounted toiletries. 

Cape Cod Harbor House Inn does not have any facilities, but it does offer freebies including Wi-Fi throughout the property, daily continental breakfast, and parking in the motel parking lot. Some guests have complained of iffy Wi-Fi, however. The property's convenient location is another big draw for guests, and pets are allowed.
