Set slightly outside the town of Goreme up
a small hill, this 15-room boutique hotel is more updated, and less rustic, than many similarly priced options in town -- though it lacks true cave rooms. Built inside and out from the same
handsome, light-colored stone, the property combines the material aesthetic of
the region with a plethora of tasteful trinkets and accents, including glass
lanterns and large pottery items. Keep in mind that there are few property features,
though the staff service is almost universally lauded by visitors. Breakfast, Wi-Fi, and bus station transfers are free.
Scene
Small flagstone hotel tastefully decorated with regional accents
Built in 2012, the Goreme Inn has a more updated and manicured look than some of the other establishments
in the town, though the property is fashioned from similar materials. The
common areas consist of flagstone floors and walls with carved dark-wood beams.
Additional modern touches include recessed lighting and display cases featuring glass lamps and ceramics. The three-story building is long
and low-lying, with a handsome stone patio that looks out over a lovely garden.
The trimmed lawn is set with pottery, a tiny manmade river, and evergreen trees.
The hotel also offers an array of outdoor seating, ranging from wooden chairs
with tables to padded loungers to tastefully arranged floor cushions.
Location
Just on the outside of Goreme, slightly uphill
The inn is a five-minute walk from the
center of Goreme. Thus there are many restaurants and bars accessible by foot
from the property, including Alaturca Restoran and Sultan Restoran. Cultural
attractions like the Zelve and Goreme open-air museums are close
by as well. And the bus station that leads to destinations out of town is just a few minutes away, though the hotel
will provide free pickup there upon request. Nevsehir Kapadokya Airport is less
than an hour’s drive northwest while getting to Kayseri Airport, to the east,
takes more than 90 minutes by car. Transfers are available with advance notice
for a fee.
Rooms
Wood furniture, wrought-iron accents, and tiled floors in stone-walled spaces
The Goreme’s
tasteful rooms are adorned with regional, light-colored stone covering the walls and floors. Furnishings typically include a mix of delicately carved wood furnishings, floral upholstered easy chairs, Persian rugs, and floor-to-ceiling curtains. Many
of the rooms have canopies over beds along with occasional wood inlays.
All spaces have stocked minibars, wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, hairdryers, safes,
and walk-in rain showers. Those seeking an authentic cave hotel experience, however, won't find it here -- but some may appreciate the more updated, less rustic, feel.
Features
Few amenities apart from lovely gardens, a computer terminal, and Wi-Fi
Amenities
at the Goreme are limited. A computer, printer, and fax
machine are on hand as well as a small subterranean breakfast room. The breakfast is included in the rate, and includes cereals, fruits, pastries, and cheese, as well as eggs and toast to order. Guests
can opt to dine on the large stone terrace that overlooks the valley. Free Wi-Fi is
available throughout the property and laundry/iron service is offered as well.
Business travelers can take advantage of an on-site meeting room and sightseers can book regional tours through the inn.
