Santa Susanna is much less party-oriented than other nearby beach towns, and draws mostly families and couples. Caprici Verd is a good pick for these travelers, as it features plenty of kid-friendly amenities -- from a kids’ club to kids’ menus at the restaurant, and a kiddy pool -- and a laid-back vibe great for those looking to spend some relaxing days by the beach. Decor style is contemporary, though Standard Rooms are a tad bland. The lobby is a large, attractive space with huge floor-to-ceiling windows, plenty of seating areas, and a slanted glass wall that lets in tons of light. Other common areas are similarly contemporary, with modern art hanging from walls, a few cute artistic details, and plants. The restaurant features a striking curved wooden ceiling, and a huge skylight. It is not an all-inclusive hotel, but full board meal plans are available.

Caprici Verd is located in a quiet part of Santa Susanna, a small beach town offering a handful of historic attractions. The neighborhood is full of hotels, and there are many restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. But most locals live on the hillside, so this area can be a little too touristy to some. The beach is just a couple of minutes’ walk away, but guests will have to cross the train tracks through an underpass to get to the sand -- which is the case with the vast majority of hotels in Santa Susanna. There are a couple of attractions within a short drive, including two chapels, and a 17th-century mill. The main train station is just outside the hotel’s back door, which is convenient for those looking to explore nearby towns, or even Barcelona and Girona, both located about an hour away.

The hotel offers two room types: Standard and Premium. The only difference between them is the decor style and the views. Standard rooms feature pool views, and have generic, slightly dated decor with bland bedspreads and blonde wood furniture. Premium units have been renovated more recently, and offer ocean views and somewhat more stylish decor, with accent walls, and newer furniture. However, amenities are similar in all room types, and include flat-screen TVs, empty mini-fridges, free Wi-Fi, and furnished balconies. Cribs and adjoining rooms are available upon request.

Caprici Verd offers plenty of family-friendly amenities, such as a kiddy pool; a kids’ club complete with an arcade and a playground; kids’ menu at the restaurant; and entertainment and activities for children during the day. The hotel also offers solid amenities for adults, such as a large pool, two bars, free on-site parking, free use of a spa complete with an indoor pool, and a well-equipped fitness center. Guests may want to note that there’s a fee for use of the sauna room.
