Ramada by Wyndham Rock Hill at Sullivan Center

The Ramada Rock Hill at Sullivan Center is one of the few non-B&B-style properties in the area. It is larger than the average Catskills hotel, and features more contemporary decor than most -- at least in the lobby. The hotel is run by the owners of excellent Bernie’s Holiday Restaurant, located two doors down, who purchased the hotel in 2011 and renovated it top to bottom through mid-2012.The lobby, with gray and red pops of color, round lamps hanging from the ceiling, a cozy area with a fireplace and couches, and a red lacquered bar serving drinks in the evening, is one of the most attractive spaces in the hotel. Rooms are spacious and comfortable if a little bland, with white bedspreads, dark brown carpeting, and varnished wood furniture, plus small abstract paintings or framed photographs on the walls.The hotel’s extensive meeting space makes it a good pick for weddings and corporate retreats, but those looking to explore the local attractions will need a car to move around. There are many quaint little towns in the area, and the hotel’s location near several mountain ranges makes it a solid choice for the outdoors enthusiasts. The game room, expansive grounds around the hotel, and large rooms are all convenient features for families.

The Ramada Rock Hill at Sullivan Center is located right off State Route 17, in Sullivan County. Tiny, family-friendly Holiday Mountain ski resort is literally across the street, and there are many lakes in the area great for kayaking. Dining options are a little limited, but there are three or four solid places within walking distance, including the hotel’s restaurant, which is outstanding.This is a mostly rural area, with a few houses dotting the sides of the road -- but there are some attractions nearby, including the Monticello Casino and Racetrack, a number of swimming holes, quaint Wurstboro, and a little farther, Bethel Woods (site of the Woodstock Festival).- 6-minute drive to Holiday Mountain Ski and Fun Park
