Coral Stone Club is an upper-middle-range hotel located directly on the pristine Seven Mile Beach. The property consists of 30 three-bedroom condo units, all of which offer full kitchens and large living areas. Units are individually decorated, but most feature attractive, contemporary decor and all have balconies or terraces overlooking the beach. The property offers direct access to a pristine stretch of Seven Mile Beach, and an above-average fitness center and outdoor pool. A large ratio of beach and pool space to number of guests ensures the common areas are rarely crowded. Travelers may want to compare rates and amenities with nearby Plantana Condominiums, which have full kitchens and screened lanais.
Scene
Small condo property ideal for families and groups
The pastel blue buildings of Coral Stone Club are set back from busy West Bay Road, minimizing any potential noise transfer from the street. A small registration area includes a stone reception desk and racks of brochures. The fitness center, tennis court, and parking lot are placed at the front of the property. Pathways lined with well-manicured lawns lead beyond the condo units to the pool and beach, where guests can settle down with widely spaced chairs and tables. Both areas are large considering the small number of units, allowing for a quiet, relaxing ambience.
The property mainly draws families and groups, as the three-bedroom units don't offer the best value for couples and singles. Many guests own their units or stay here regularly, which creates a friendly, social atmosphere of familiar guests reuniting with one another as well as welcoming first time visitors.
Location
Excellent location on Seven Mile Beach, within walking distance of restaurants and shops
Coral Stone is set in the heart of the island’s touristy Seven Mile Beach district with direct access to the beach. There’s a grocery store a six-minute walk away and over a dozen restaurants accessible on foot, some of which are found in the other condos and hotels lining the road. The Strand shopping center, which includes ATMs, a liquor store, and retail shops, is less than a 10-minute walk away. Traffic along West Bay Road can get quite busy, but it’s lined with a wide sidewalk that’s ideal for guests exploring on foot.
Dolphin Discovery is less than a 15-minute drive away, while the airport and the capital of George Town can be reached in around 10 minutes by car. Outdoor parking at the Coral Stone Club is free.
Rooms
Large units with separate living areas, full kitchens, and balconies or terraces
Like most condo complexes on Grand Cayman, the units at Coral Stone Club are individually owned and therefore the decor varies significantly from unit to unit. One unit might be decorated in rich tones of gold and brown and feature four-poster beds, while another might have wicker furniture, tropical pattern fabrics, and seashell decorations. Guests have the option of viewing photos of each unit on Coral Stone’s website before booking, so there are no unpleasant surprises upon arrival when it comes to the appearance of the unit.
Most units could hardly be described as modern, but all are homey and well-maintained. Despite the differences in decor, each condo is 1,800 square feet in size and features an identical layout consisting of three bedrooms and three bathrooms, a full kitchen, a separate living area, and a furnished balcony or terrace. Bedrooms have a varying mix of king, queen, and pairs of twin beds. Twin rooms are often decorated in colorful, kid-friendly decor. All units have free Wi-Fi, DVD players, stereos, and most include flat-screen TVs in the living areas and in each bedroom. Furnished balconies and patios all face toward the coast, offering gorgeous views of the pool and beach.
Kitchens have full-size refrigerators and ovens, along with plenty of cutlery. Extras again vary from unit to unit, but most kitchens are stocked with basics like cooking oils and a few spices. Bathrooms also have different features, but all include Gilchrist & Soames bath products. Most units have a mix of showers and shower/tub combos; some have jetted tubs.
Features
Direct access to Seven Mile Beach, fresh-water pool and two hot tubs, and fitness center
Coral Stone Club has well-maintained features that focus on relaxing outdoors. The highlight here is the lovely infinity-edge pool, which is bookended by two small hot tubs. The pool is surrounded by a pale stone deck, elegantly dotted with blue beach umbrellas and beige lounge chairs along with matching patio tables.
The pool area leads down onto a wide, uncrowded stretch of stunning Seven Mile Beach. The beach’s soft, white sands is set with more blue umbrellas and beige lounge chairs, in addition to a few pretty thatched roof huts.
Coral Stone Club’s modern fitness center is notable both as a rare feature among Grand Cayman’s condo complexes and because its enormous in size. It has numerous flat-screen TVs, free weights and circuit-style weight machines, as well as Precor treadmills, elliptical machines and stationary bikes.
The property also includes a well-maintained tennis court and a grill available for guest use. Like at most condo complexes on the island, there’s no restaurant on-site, but there are numerous dining options within walking distance. There’s free parking on-site and free Wi-Fi is offered throughout.
