Bottom Line

The Yaang Come Village is a smallish boutique resort, featuring traditional Lan Na-style architecture and design. The upper-middle-range hotel features some of the most spacious rooms in Chiang Mai, and the higher-category rooms are beautifully furnished, with huge bathrooms and tubs, but all lack views. A pleasant, sunny swimming pool sits in the middle of the grounds and there's a small library adjacent to the resort's atmospheric restaurant. It's only a five- to 10-minute walk to the Night Market and the city center, yet the hotel feels quiet and secluded. It's a good choice for those wanting a peaceful and comfortable spot close to the city center, although it is quite pricey compared to similarly rated hotels in the area.

Yaang Come Village

Scene

Quiet and tranquil spot with courtyard swimming pool

The Yaang Come Village is a quiet and tranquil spot, despite being a short walk from the city center. It's in a garden and has an artsy feel to it, with colorful statues, traditional Lanna architecture, and beautiful mural paintings throughout. The lobby is a pleasant place to sit, with Chinese art, comfy sofas, and probably the only decent Wi-Fi connection on the property. The only other real hangouts here are the swimming pool in the center of the garden and the lone restaurant, which is atmospheric at night thanks to lanterns strung in the surrounding trees. The restaurant doesn't tend to get crowded, as many guests head out to the nearby Night Bazaar for food and shopping. With its pool and family rooms, those with kids won't be put off from coming here, but the resort is definitely a place for a calm and quiet stay, and couples will appreciate the artistic touches and privacy.

Location

Quiet, tucked-away location within walking distance of downtown Chiang Mai and the Night Bazaar

Yaang Come Village is located right near the center of downtown Chiang Mai. It's right next to Whole Earth Restaurant and about 10 minutes on foot to the Night Market and all the shopping and eating areas of downtown, but the hotel itself is up a quiet driveway, and feels secluded and hidden. The old city is further away -- 20 minutes on foot -- but tuk tuks, taxis, and songthaews (red trucks used as shared transport) are readily available. Guests can reach the airport within 15 to 20 minutes by car.

Rooms

Huge rooms with artwork and Lanna decor, some with big bathtubs

The rooms at Yaang Come Village are some of the most spacious in Chiang Mai, and have beautiful mural paintings in each room. The base category -- Superior Rooms -- have large sleeping areas and bathrooms with walk-in showers, but small TVs. All rooms have stocked mini-bars, electric kettles, DVD players, safes, and desks and chairs. Deluxe and above categories also come with armchairs and second desks as well as larger TVs and tubs in addition to showers. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, although the connection can be laboriously slow.

Features

Pleasant garden swimming pool, small library, and atmospheric restaurant under the trees

Although the resort lacks a gym and a spa, it does have a nice swimming pool with a whirlpool in the middle of the grounds. The pool gets plenty of sun and has lots of lounge chairs surrounding it, plus access to food and drink from the restaurant. There's a small library upstairs as well as a meeting room for groups. There is just one restaurant here, which is partially open-air. It sits in a garden under a massive tree with a huge root system, and it's surrounded by golden lanterns that are illuminated at night. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel but the speeds are slow (except in the lobby area).
