Bottom Line

Napa Prince Hotel Apartments is a three-pearl apartment hotel with 39 Studios and One-Bedroom units. Its location a 10-minute walk from the town center makes it a good choice for clubbers (the infamous Castle Club is under 10 minutes away on foot), but it's not on the beach (expect a 12-minute walk to Katsarka Beach), which may put some people off. Apartments are spacious and nicely maintained; they come with fully equipped kitchens and sofa beds for extra guests. While most people come here for the self-catering option, there are meal plans available at the bar/restaurant, situated right next to the hotel's sunny centerpiece pool. Those willing to forego easy access to nightclubs in order to be right on the beach may want to consider a stay at the much larger Callisto Holiday Village instead.

Napa Prince Hotel Apartments

Scene

Mid-range apartment hotel popular with British partiers in the summer and Scandinavian retirees in the winter

Napa Prince Hotel Apartments is a casual, family-run apartment hotel complex spread across four two-story apartment blocks, with a common outdoor pool area, restaurant, and reception at the center. An enormous cage full of well looked-after budgerigars is located in a shady area on one side of the complex. The main hub of action here is at the pool and at the indoor/outdoor bar where there are a few super old arcade games plus a huge TV where sporting events are regularly screened. Just off to one side is a huge expanse of grass, which is good for families with kids who want to run around, but you're more likely to see young, mostly British partiers here, especially in the busy summer months. That said, Napa Prince does attract a slightly older, predominantly Scandinavian crowd come winter, when Ayia Napa's normally raging nightlife slows down considerably. Note that while the hotel is normally open year round, it will be closing from November 2017 through the end of February 2018 for renovations.

Location

On a main road in Ayia Napa, within walking distance of town center attractions and 12 minutes to the beach

This hotel is located just off a main road that runs along the northern ridge of Ayia Napa, next to a large apartment building and across from a few shops and restaurants. It can be a little hard to spot where to pull in if you're using Google Maps, so keep your eye out for the entrance and parking lot on the west side of the complex. It's under a 10-minute walk to the city center, where many of the city's attractions, night clubs, and restaurants are located, including the famous Castle Club. Katsarka Beach takes about 12 minutes to reach on foot. Further afield, popular Nissi Beach is a five-minute drive or a 30-minute walk from the hotel. The scenic coastal Cape Greco National Forest Park is a 10- to 15-minute drive from the hotel. The town of Larnaca -- where the closest international airport is located -- is about 40 minutes away by car. The capital city of Nicosia takes an hour or so to get to by car.

Rooms

Bright, well-maintained apartment-style rooms with kitchens and sofa beds; some with pool views

Napa Prince offers seven big, bright Studio Rooms and 32 One-Bedroom Apartments, some of which have pool views. Decor is simple and well-maintained, with off-white tiles, soft blue upholstery and accent walls, and a few framed photos of flowers on the walls. All have wall-mounted flat-screen TVs in the living rooms (but not in the bedrooms, as is the case of One-Bedroom Apartments) along with kitchens with large refrigerators, two-burner stoves, kettles, and cookware. Dish soap is provided. Safes are available for a daily fee. All rooms have air-conditioning, but it's only included in some bookings -- otherwise, it can be activated for a daily fee.

Most of the units have two twin beds that can be pushed together for couples, though the hotel does have a few double mattresses available on request. Each of the Studios has a sofa bed for a third adult, while One-bedroom units add two sofa beds in the living rooms and can sleep up to four guests comfortably.

Bathrooms are sleek but small, with charcoal-hued tile floors and accents and glass walk-in showers with wall-mounted soap dispensers. No other toiletries are provided, but guests can borrow hairdryers from the reception. Many of the units have big furnished balconies, but views mostly overlook neighboring buildings. Note that housekeeping offers service every three days.

Features

Outdoor pool with lounge chairs, bar/restaurant with games and a variety of meal plans, and free Wi-Fi and parking

Napa Prince offers decent amenities for an apartment hotel, including a mid-sized rectangular pool surrounded by lounge chairs and parasols. Though most of the guests here opt for self-catering in their rooms, the hotel does offer bed-and-breakfast, half-board, and full-board rates for those who want to take some or all of their meals at the restaurant. The food here is nothing special, but there is a good variety of options, from toasted sandwiches to burgers to local favorites such as moussaka. All meals are served at the indoor/outdoor pool bar, which doubles as a game room of sorts with foosball, billiards, and an old-school coin-operated punching bag game. Other amenities include free hotel-wide Wi-Fi, a surface lot with plenty of free parking, and adjacent coin-operated laundry facilities. The hotel also has a large gift shop integrated into the lobby, selling postcards, flip flops, and traditional pottery. There's no fitness center, but the hotel is right next to World's Gym, the largest gym in town, and day passes are available.
