Theo Sunset Bay Holiday Village

Theo Sunset Bay Holiday Village is a mid-range apartment hotel right on the coast. It's housed in a series of two-story whitewashed buildings on beautiful grounds, filled with lovely Mediterranean plants and grass. The lobby is simple and small, with just a front desk and a coffeeshop area with a mix of white and orange sofas and wicker patio chairs and tables. The pool bar sits off to one side and stays pretty busy throughout the day, especially during the buffet lunch service when it can feel cramped and hectic. This hotel gets lots of families looking for a self-catering stay, along with package tourists and larger groups of friends.

Theo Sunset Bay Holiday Village is right on the main coastal highway, in between Coral Bay (an eight-minute drive to the north) and Paphos (15 minutes south of the hotel). The hotel itself is right on the beach. There's no real impetus for most guests to go for a wander, but those who do want to explore can catch a bus to Paphos from right in front of the hotel's main entrance, or take a 10-minute stroll north to the Kissonerga sunset viewpoint, where there's a small sandy beach. The Adonis Baths waterfall is about 25 minutes inland by car from the hotel. The Tomb of the Kings and the Paphos Archaeological Park take 10 and 20 minutes to reach by car, respectively. It takes around an hour and 45 minutes to reach Mount Olympos. The capital city of Nicosia is a two-hour drive away, but it's only around a half-hour by car to Paphos Airport. 

This hotel offers 39-square-meter (420-square-foot) Studios and 47-square-meter (506-square-foot) One-Bedroom Apartments. Rooms are bright and well-maintained with cherry-finish furniture, cream-colored tile floors, and subtle accents such as plush sleeper sofas in hues of muted salmon and red. All come with fully equipped kitchenettes complete with mini-fridges, microwaves, toasters, stoves, and kettles, plus cookware and cutlery. Other standard amenities include free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, irons and ironing boards, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and safes (for a fee). Bathrooms are simple, with shower/tub combos and soap dispensers rather than individual toiletries. Magnifying mirrors and hairdryers are provided. Higher rates are charged for units with sea views, and all rooms have furnished balconies. 

Amenities at this hotel are suited to both those who want to relax and travelers who are a bit more active. The star feature is the hotel's lovely outdoor lagoon pool, with a fountain feature and an infinity edge that looks out over surrounding buildings, with the sea a bit further beyond. Although the hotel overlooks the coast, the nearest beach is too small and narrow for sunbathing. Water sports can be arranged through the front desk. There's also a spa with treatments and a steam room, plus a small indoor pool with a mosaic bottom and a few lounge chairs. Along with clay outdoor tennis courts and a playground for kids, there's a small fitness center with a couple of machines and a row of free weights. Bicycles are available to rent. 

This hotel offers bed-and-breakfast, half-board, and full-board options, though many guests go for self-catering instead. Lunch is served buffet-style and include a mix of hot dishes and Cypriot mainstays such as hummus and olives, but the selection isn't as great as what's found at some of the larger hotels in the area. Beer, cocktails, and fresh-squeezed juices are available for a fee. Breakfast and dinner are available at Christina Restaurant, with a much better selection and themed nights. There's a small mini-mart on-site selling snacks, water, and sundries.
