Oyster Hotel Review

Embassy Suites by Hilton Denver Tech Center North

Scene

A bustling hotel that’s fresh from renovation for a mix of travelers

Given its proximity to Denver’s Tech Center, the hotel attracts business travelers, but it also draws an equal number of families who choose the property for its spacious suites. The modern and attractive lobby is fresh from an extensive renovation that was completed in mid-2016, with light cascading down from the seven-story atrium onto thriving tropical plants. There are clusters of sleek seating scattered throughout the lobby, including silvery leather benches and butterscotch leather armchairs. The hotel a busy place that gets especially lively during the evening manager’s receptions, when free food and drinks are served.

Location

A short drive to Denver’s Tech Center, but located outside downtown Denver

This Embassy is located in a busy commercial area just north of where Interstates 25 and 225 converge. It’s roughly a 10-minute drive or hotel shuttle ride (south) to Denver’s Tech Center, and approximately a 25-minute drive north to downtown Denver. It could take longer, depending on time of day and traffic conditions. Several restaurants, a Whole Foods Market, and a Walgreens pharmacy are within walking distance, but it’s preferable to drive or take the hotel shuttle in this busy area. It’s typically a 35-minute drive to Denver International Airport, or approximately 75 minutes by light rail (it’s a three-minute walk to a station).

Rooms

Modern and spacious, with mini-fridges, microwaves, wet bars, and coffeemakers

The spacious two-room Suites were upgraded as part of the hotel’s mid-2016 renovation and they remain fresh and modern, with sophisticated neutrals and orange accents. Furniture has a sleek, espresso-brown finish, and photos of mountain scenes on walls complete the polished look.

Amenities are a plus and units are considerably well-equipped. Living rooms have sleeper sofas, granite-topped wet bars, and tables that double as desks, with multiple chairs for dining or work. Flat-screen TVs are included in both the living room and bedroom areas. Vanities placed en-suite and in bathrooms are a nice touch for couples or families, and they are included in both Kings and Double Queens. All units come with mini-fridges, microwaves, safes, and coffeemakers, but Wi-Fi is free only for Hilton Honors members.

Bathrooms are a bit small in comparison to the roomy bedroom and living areas, but they have granite lining the shower/tub combos that matches the granite vanities. Premium rooms on upper floors feature Keurig coffeemakers and free snacks and soft drinks that are replenished daily. Some Suites on upper floors have views of distant mountain ranges, while other simply overlook surrounding buildings.

Restaurant and bar, 24-hour business center, plus pool and gym

This hotel offers a solid amenities package that caters to its mixed clientele. As an Embassy Suites property, it offers a free, cooked-to-order breakfast that includes an omelet station, and there's also a nightly manager’s reception with free beer, wine, and light bites. For dinner, there's an on-site restaurant with a full bar that serves contemporary American cuisine. Room service is available, but the restaurant doesn't serve lunch. However, there's a minimart on-site that has items including salads and entrees that can be microwaved, plus soft drinks and sundries.
