Sharing a 12-floor building with the Hilton's Hampton
Inn, this four-pearl Homewood Suites is in a prime downtown location, within a block of the Convention Center and 16th Street
Mall. The 182 studio-apartment-style rooms come with separate living
rooms and kitchenettes, which appeals to long-term guests who plan to do their own
cooking. Guests can use the facilities of the attached Hampton Inn, which include an indoor pool, gym, bar and casual restaurant, and meeting spaces, and a free hot buffet breakfast.
Scene
Bright, modern, and colorful with lots of natural light
The Homewood Suites is housed in a repurposed, 12-story building, with common areas and facilities shared with the adjoining Hampton Inn. The ground
floor is indelibly bright, composed almost entirely of glass walls and
windows with vaulted ceilings, shiny white tile floors and enormous white-cube light fixtures hanging overhead. Upon entering, guests will find a
colorful mural that resembles an abstract crayon drawing filling two interior
walls, a lounge area, and several slick black tables and chairs. The 550 Bar
& Patio is equally airy and colorful, with vaulted ceilings, a long, silver bar fronted with small turquoise chairs, a low booth lined with chairs and
tables, and a small, enclosed patio area -- it's a good place to grab a quick lunch or casual dinner, sample creative cocktails, or sip one of the locally brewed beers.
Location
One block from the Convention Center and the 16th Street Mall
This Hampton Inn has a convenient downtown location, within a three-minute walk of the Convention Center and 16th Street Mall -- a pedestrian zone full of stores, restaurants, and bars -- and a 10-minute walk to several of downtown's hottest bars and restaurants, the Paramount Theater, and the University of Colorado's Denver campus. Denver International Airport is a 30-minute drive from the hotel.
Rooms
Self-contained apartments with kitchenettes, full-size refrigerators, microwaves, and dishwashers
There are three varieties of studio-style rooms at this
Homewood Suites. While each is configured differently, they are all large, modern, and pleasant, designed as fully functioning apartments for
long-term guests. All include 42-inch flat-screen TVs with several movie channels available, free high-speed Wi-Fi, kitchenettes with full-size stainless steel
refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers, double stove-top burners (no ovens), coffeemakers, and
cooking utensils, small high tables with two stools, and ceiling fans. The spacious living areas, while not separated from sleeping areas by doors, have full-size sofa beds, coffee tables, and large desks with
rolling office chairs. Spacious, streamlined bathrooms come with Neutrogena
toiletries, black granite countertops, and black-framed mirrors, plus
large glass showers. Only large studios have shower/tub combos.
Features
Free hot buffet breakfast, Wi-Fi, indoor pool, gym, and on-site bar with casual restaurant
The Homewood's self-contained apartments come with a free hot
buffet breakfast and high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the property. Guests can use the indoor pool, hot tub, and large fitness center, equipped with an array of cardio and weight-training machines, at the adjoining Hampton Inn & Suites, as well as its well-decorated meeting, banquet, and
presentation rooms and 24-hour business center. The 550 Bar & Patio, which holds two daily happy hours, is a lovely
spot to try a creative cocktail or a locally brewed beer, or to grab a light lunch
or casual dinner. The hotel also has a coin-operated laundry, and free coffee, tea, and apples are available at all times in the lobby. Be aware that parking is valet-only, and can be expensive, although Homewood Suites guests on extended stays can purchase a month-long parking pass at a lower rate.
