Bottom Line

The 103-room Panorama Grand Hotel is a dated mid-range property located in the older area of Bur Dubai, close to numerous restaurants, shops, and Dubai Creek. Major attractions such as the Burj Khalifa and Mall of the Emirates are between a 15- and 30-minute drive away. The old-fashioned rooms are showing some wear and reportedly suffer from noise, but quality amenities include minibars, flat-screen TVs, desks, and kettles. An Asian restaurant, two nightclubs, and a sports bar are on-site and receive average reviews, and most rates include breakfast with lots of Indian dishes. There are no pool or wellness facilities here, and in-room Wi-Fi requires a fee. It's worth paying slightly more for the Citymax Bur Dubai, which has a rooftop pool, modern gym, and more contemporary rooms.

Scene

Dated, family-friendly property with limited features

The Panorama Grand Hotel is a dated property that sits in a busy neighborhood of Dubai. Although it attracts a variety of travelers, most guests are families that were drawn to spacious rooms and low rates. Unfortunately, those cheap rates equals old-fashioned decor that's in need of an update. Expect old-looking linens in red or light-brown hues, red carpeting in hallways, and wood furniture in various stains. There's little to keep guests on-site, as there are no pool, gym, or spa facilities, although some travelers visit the on-site nightclubs. Overall, this is one of the cheapest options in town, but there are better values to be found for just slightly more money.

Location

In the Bur Dubai neighborhood near Dubai Creek

The Panorama Grand Hotel is in an area called Bur Dubai, which is an older part of the city. It's separated from the Deira neighborhood, which is home to numerous souks, by Dubai Creek. Numerous restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance, and Meena Bazaar is a 10-minutes stroll. Dubai Museum is a 15-minute walk, while the convention center is about 12 minutes by taxi. Major Downtown Dubai sights like the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall are about a 15-minute drive, while Mall of the Emirates is 25 minutes. Palm Jumeirah and Jumeirah Beach are both 25 minutes away by car. Dubai International Airport is a 15-minute drive.

Rooms

Good-sized rooms with TVs, minibars, and safes

The 103 rooms here are done in a dated style consisting of wood floors, reddish wood furniture, old-fashioned patterned red or light-brown bedding, and white walls with floral artwork. Some minor wear is evident and many past guests have complained of thin walls leading to noise issues. Past guests suggest booking a room on higher floors to avoid noise from the nightclubs. Nevertheless, rooms are a good size, particularly corner rooms and Executive Suites, the latter of which have couches and dining tables. All units come equipped with flat-screen TVs, minibars, tea- and coffee-making facilities, desks, wardrobes with safes, and small sitting areas. Bathrooms are showing their age, and have shower/tub combos, toiletries, and hairdryers. Executive Suites have bigger tubs. In-room Wi-Fi requires a fee.

Features

Asian restaurant and nightclubs, but little else

Panorama Grand Hotel is light on amenities, lacking a pool, gym, and wellness facilities of any kind. However, there are an all-day Asian restaurant and a sports bar. The Asian eatery receives average reviews, though most guests like the breakfast consisting of lots of Indian fare (included in most rates). The English Pub has live bands and inexpensive beer. Two nightclubs are downstairs. The hotel has a business center, and free Wi-Fi in the lobby.
