Consistent with the reputation of most other Premier Inn hotels across the U.K., Premier Inn Edinburgh (Lauriston Place) Hotel has a simple and modern design. You won't find much character here, but it's a mostly reliable brand and an outpost with a fresher veneer than some of the other Premier Inns that we've seen. The lobby is spacious and airy, and the restaurant is bright and colorful, with purple feature walls and chairs. It's a fine choice for tourists who want somewhere to relax that isn't too far from the city's sights, as well as business travelers who are looking for somewhere central with basic comforts.

Located toward the outer area of the Old Town, Premier Inn Edinburgh Central (Lauriston Place) Hotel has an excellent location with numerous sights, shops, restaurants, and local pubs within easy walking distance. St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh Castle, Grassmarket Square, the Royal Mile, and the Scott Monument are all about a 15-minute walk away (mostly uphill). For business travelers, the Edinburgh International Conference Centre is a nine-minute walk, and the Usher Hall concert venue is a seven-minute walk. The western end of Princes Street is 15 minutes away on foot, and charming Dean Village is a 20-minute walk northwest. The West End - Princes Street tram stop is a 16-minute walk from the hotel, while Haymarket is about 20 minutes on foot. They're well-maintained and feature basic amenities like free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and electric kettles -- with cocooning black-out curtains to help everyone sleep a little better. It generally stays quiet at night, and Hypnos mattresses get positive reviews from nearly all guests. Twin, Double, and Family Rooms are available. En-suite bathrooms are spacious and include a stall shower or shower/tub combo, with hairdryers and toiletries.

The Premier Inn Edinburgh Central (Lauriston Place) Hotel doesn't offer many features apart from their Thyme Restaurant, which offers a contemporary British menu with full buffet breakfast (not included in room rates).
