Starhotels Tuscany

This 10-story brick chain hotel features a bright and modern lobby with rustic Tuscan accents such as old street lamps mounted on columns above vintage planters. A long table made of reclaimed wood sits at one end next to a wall with bookcases and a fireplace. The small lobby bar sits adjacent. Light hardwood floors and a bank of windows gives the long but narrow space an airy and cheerful ambiance. Both business travelers and tourists frequent this hotel due to its close proximity to the airport and roads that lead into Florence and throughout the region. 

The Starhotels Tuscany is located in a busy commercial area in the Florence suburb of Novoli. It’s a modern neighborhood with plenty of residential towers and a popular supermarket adjacent to the hotel. The lovely Parco San Donato is just across the street, and there's a shopping mall with a cinema complex and some restaurants a five-minute walk away. While the area has a good selection of restaurants along with a pharmacy, there's not much in terms of nightlife or tourist attractions. However, there's a bus stop right in front of the hotel with service to Florence’s city center -- the ride takes around 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic. The hotel is especially convenient to Florence Airport, which is less than a 10-minute drive away without traffic. The Firenze Santa Maria Novella railway station takes about 15 minutes to reach by car.

Rooms at the Starhotels Tuscany start small, with entry-level Classic Rooms measuring 200 square feet. Guests can also book larger Superior Rooms, Junior Suites, or Suites with separate living rooms, as well as Family Rooms, which come with kid-friendly amenities and toys. Decor is cheerful and neutral, with carpeting or hardwood floors, contemporary light-wood furniture, and black-and-white framed photos on the wall. Overall, it's a tasteful and pleasant look, if not especially fashionable. Standard amenities include safes, minibars, flat-screen TVs, coffee- and tea-making facilities, bathrobes, and slippers. Bathrooms are predominantly marble and have walk-in showers or shower/tub combos. The rooms are generally quiet given the busy area, and some have lovely views of the nearby park. 

Amenities at this hotel include Assaggi, the on-site restaurant, which offers both continental and full hot breakfast buffets in the morning, plus a la carte lunch and dinner menus with a focus on Tuscan cuisine. A lobby bar serves coffee in the morning as well. Parking is free, but there are only 22 spaces and as they can’t be reserved, guests shouldn't count on them being available. There is a fitness center, but it's small and equipped with only a couple of cardio machines and free weights. The hotel’s two meeting rooms can accommodate up to 60 people, and free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the hotel. Bus tickets are sold at the front desk, and laundry/dry-cleaning and babysitting services are available. Pets are welcome for a fee.
