The 68-room lower-middle-range Best Western
Navarre Waterfront Hotel is a typical roadside chain motel
overlooking the Santa Rosa Sound. The Highway 98 location is convenient for
both tourists and business travelers, and the guest rooms are bright, clean, and
spacious. However, unlike many area hotels, there are no Gulf views. The on-site beach is not swimmable, but there is a nice, moderately sized pool and a
series of picturesque, colorful Adirondack chairs where guests can relax and gaze
over the Santa Rosa Sound.
Scene
Typical roadside chain motel, but spacious and clean
The Best Western Navarre Waterfront could be a Best Western almost anywhere. It's unlikely to appeal to visitors seeking quirky Florida charm and character, but the property is spacious, convenient, and clean, and makes a fine home base for exploring the golf courses, beaches, and parks in the area. Situated along a busy highway, there can be traffic noise, but the bonus is that there are plenty of fast food and chain restaurants within an easy walk. The hotel’s architecture is typical to a roadside motel, complete with exterior corridors, and the views across the intracoastal waterway and sound are scenic. There is a nice vantage point over the water, on a strip of sand, where guests can relax in brightly-painted Adirondack or lounge chairs. The surf itself is muddy and unappealing, but the sun is warm, and there's an outdoor pool for those who want to swim. The hotel lobby and breakfast area were fully renovated in 2016, and the exterior received a new coat of paint.
Location
On Highway 98, near plenty of restaurants and five minutes from Gulf beaches
The Best Western Navarre Waterfront is
located on Highway 98, overlooking Santa
Rosa Sound and five minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. It's within a short drive of the Hidden Creek Golf Club,
Gulf Islands National Seashore, Gulf Breeze Zoo, and the Oak Tree Nature Park.
The motel offers free parking, and the highway offers quick access to all of the area's major
attractions. There are plenty of nearby fast food restaurants in the area -- including a
Waffle House and a McDonald's -- and there's a Winn-Dixie grocery store just across the street. Pensacola Regional Airport
is 40 minutes from the hotel, while the Destin Fort Walton Beach Airport is a 35-minute drive away, traffic permitting.
Rooms
Bright, modern, and clean rooms, some with water views
Rooms at the Best Western Navarre Waterfront
are modern, clean, and spacious. Some have waterfront views of the
Intracoastal waterway and the Santa Rosa Sound. The decor is bright; rooms are painted a butter
yellow with turquoise accent walls and have basic wood furniture, including a
sizable work surface. Some guest rooms have remodeled bathrooms, and all have
shower/tub combos. Beds are reportedly comfortable, and amenities include
mini-fridges, microwaves, 37-inch flat-screens with cable, and coffeemakers.
Rooms facing the highway get some traffic noise, especially during high season.
Adjoining rooms are available upon request.
Features
Outdoor pool, free breakfast, fitness center, and laundry room
The Best Western Navarre Waterfront features
a moderately sized pool ringed with lounge chairs, tables, chairs, and parasols.
There's also a small sandy beach area with Adirondack and lounge chairs for
hanging out and watching the waves, but the waters are too muddy for swimming. The motel offers a free hot buffet
breakfast every morning, and there are grills and picnic tables around the grounds for guests who want to prepare their own lunches and dinners. There's also a small laundry room. The fitness center is tiny and lacks natural light,
but there are cardio machines and weight equipment for dedicated exercisers. A
small convenience store stocks laundry detergent, sunscreen, snacks, and soft
drinks and there's a meeting room and business center as well as free Wi-Fi.
