Bottom Line

The budget-oriented Green House Apart Hotel, even though it's not on the beach, is one of the most popular in Gumbet for its affordable rates and relaxed atmosphere. It has two outdoor pools, both with adjacent kiddy pools, and plenty of loungers packed onto its stone sundecks. It's in walking distance to the beach and the town's nightlife scene, and hosts its own regular entertainment -- including karaoke -- in an open-air bar. Its 36 rooms are dated, and are more akin to what would be found in a country house than a hotel in the middle of a beach resort -- some units are split-level with kitchenettes, and all have balconies. While Wi-Fi is free, it's available only in the public areas, and air-conditioning comes with a fee. For a similarly priced alternative on the beach, consider the Tropicana Beach Hotel across the bay.

Green House Apart Hotel

Scene

Popular value hotel with a rough stone construction

Small and typically crowded with a competing mix of families and a younger party crowd, the Green House Apart Hotel remains popular for its central location, cheap rates, and friendly staff, which hosts regular nightly entertainment -- including karaoke -- in a casual atmosphere. Most guests hail from the U.K., and the clientele includes many of enthusiastic repeat customers.

Built of rough-cut stone blocks topped with terra-cotta tiles, the hotel has an almost medieval look. Ivy covers many of its towering exterior walls. Varnished wood sculptures, some clinging to the walls, decorate all open-air public areas. The lobby and other common spaces are built around enclosed courtyards, with a restaurant, bar, and most of the room balconies opening to the pool sundecks housed within.

Location

Centrally located near nightlife in Gumbet

The hotel is conveniently located in the resort town of Gumbet, which has developed a reputation for its water sports and vibrant nightlife. The beachfront is about an eight-minute walk from the hotel, and numerous bars are within walking distance, but the hilly landscape might impede some. More dining and nightlife can be found in nearby Bodrum, about an 18-minute drive to the east. Bodrum is also home to several major attractions, including the site of the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the medieval St. Peter’s Castle. Expect a 45-minute drive to Milas–Bodrum Airport.
