Hotel Podstine

Hotel Podstine is a good choice for couples who want stunning outdoor spaces and the privilege of direct ocean access. The oceanfront location is outside of the city center and therefore the hotel is peaceful and quiet. The simple lobby is set with wicker club chairs and potted trees. Emphasis here is less on interiors and more about the ocean views and gorgeous outdoor spaces. Tropical plants fill up the grounds and there's cozy seating at the outdoor bars, which include bamboo hanging pod chairs, for a romantic atmosphere that appeals to couples on vacation. 

Hotel Podstine is best suited for travelers who want a quiet, peaceful retreat. It’s right on the waterfront and has its own private ocean access, however, it’s a bit removed from the main city center of Hvar. Travelers would have to walk about 20 minutes to explore the central part of the town. Hvar Fortica and the Spanjola Fortress take 25 minutes to reach on foot. The hotel is mostly surrounded by apartments and just a handful of bars and restaurants. It takes about two hours to reach Split Airport, the nearest airport, via ferry and car. 

The rooms at Hodel Podstine are clean and contemporary, but not quite as beautiful as the hotel's outdoor spaces and restaurant. Blue or purple tones make the rooms feel bright and airy, but the wall art and bed coverlets look like they were purchased in bulk from a big-box store. Expected amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi, though all rooms lack coffee- and tea-making facilities. Some rooms have lovely balconies, and those on upper floors tend to have the best ocean views. Lower-floor rooms have poor views or ocean views obstructed by trees. The bathrooms are spacious and decorated with dated tan tile. They include Oliva toiletries and hairdryers. Unfortunately, tiny stall showers and twin beds pushed together to make a double bed detract from the romance factor. 

Hotel Podstine feature amenities that focus on relaxation. The hotel provides direct stair access into the ocean via a concrete dock set with loungers. The space is private and chic. Beach towels are available, but they cost a fee if you need to exchange one during your stay. The ocean access is complemented by the hotel’s pool, which is surrounded by tropical trees and loungers. The spa offers a sauna, massages, and reflexology, as well as a small gym with cardio and weight equipment. 

With a location that’s far from the main city center, it’s nice that the hotel provides plenty of dining options. A breakfast buffet that’s included in the room rate is offered each morning and includes hot items like eggs, sausages, and bacon, as well as cold items such as pastries, cereals, and fruit. Restaurant Amo offers local seafood and international cuisine for lunch and dinner. There are three bars: Cafe Amo, Cocktail Amo, and Smoothie Bar Amo. They all have lovely outdoor terraces, cozy seating, and views of the ocean, and provide a mix of drinks like coffee, wine, cocktails, and smoothies. Culinary events such as wine tastings and Dalmatian cuisine nights are also presented. 

The hotel isn’t really a business property, but it has a fully-equipped conference room that can be rented for meetings or used for weddings. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout. Parking arrangements can be made for a fee.
