Bottom Line

The adult-only, 163-room Destino Pacha Ibiza Resort has a chic style and slightly pretentious attitude, which is somewhat to be expected since it's owned by the folks who run one of the coolest (and oldest) clubs on the island. In addition to free entrance to the twice-weekly pool parties, guests can also receive free and guaranteed entry to Pacha nightclub. Standard rooms are gorgeous and well-equipped, albeit tiny, making upgrades to the spacious and stunning suites with extra perks worth it. A large and luxe lagoon-style pool area is the hotel's centerpiece, though there are also a spa, tiny gym, and yoga classes (fee). Two bars and a restaurant serve up tasty (if pricey) drinks and meals, plus there's 24-hour room service. Free Wi-Fi and parking are available. For a nearby alternative that allows pets and children, check out OD Talamanca.

Oyster Hotel Review

Destino Pacha Ibiza Resort

Scene

Stylish and chic spot with a good balance of partying and relaxation

After it was bought in 2012, Destino underwent a full renovation in 2013. The result is a chic slook with bohemian style and contemporary furniture and decor aspects (like silver-painted Buddha heads and statues) that give nods to the East. The lobby is open and spacious, featuring high ceilings, large white-clothed couches, polished natural-wood tables, and hanging iron eggs. Rooms are housed in whitewashed duplex, triplex, and quadplex buildings with terra-cotta Spanish-tile roofs, divider hedges, dusty red-dirt pathways, and climbing vines that work together to create a strictly Mediterranean vibe. The hotel manages to pull off feeing like a retreat while also being home to weekly parties. Expect upscale resort decor that plays heavily on crisp whites, natural woods, and beige to give off an island oasis vibe, especially around the pool. This is an adult-only property with a minimum age of 16 required, though most guests here tend to be between 30 and 50 years old. Guest reviews tend to be mixed, with mentions of the hotel's priciness and pretension as downsides.

Rooms

Tiny standard rooms and chic suites, all with top-notch design and amenities

Expect stylish features in all of the elegant rooms, including contemporary furniture, white or beige linens, natural-wood tables, white walls, light tile or wood floors, and sensual artwork. The overall look is serene and pretty. All 163 rooms have keycard entry, AC, flat-screen Samsung TVs, and vanities neatly hidden inside desks. Soft bathrobes, slippers, and minibars with free olives, water, and chips are extra perks. Modern bathrooms include walk-in showers with large rainfall showerheads and handheld nozzles, VRAI bath products, and impressive amenity bags complete with earplugs, tissues, and dental, shave, and vanity kits.

The small size of Individual and Standard Guest Rooms -- 18 square meters, or 194 square feet -- are often reported as being tiny and cramped for double occupancy. Some folks are into the mirrored ceiling above some of the Standard's beds, and it's good to note that not all bathrooms have enclosed facilities. Outside, there are balconies with climbing ivy, wooden trellises, canvas folding chairs, and wooden tables. Upgrades to Superior Guest Rooms mean a spot on the ground floor and a bit more space due to the removal of the balconies. Some rooms have large sliding glass doors that open against the old balcony rails, while others have steps down to gardens with small sitting spaces.

Junior Suites come with or without private plunge pools and are nearly twice the size of Standard Rooms, while Master Suites add open-bathroom layouts with gorgeous soaking tubs, double rainfall showerheads, and double vanities. These large suites always have a corner location and extended balconies. Junior Suites and Master Suites can connect. At the top of the pecking order, the Superior Suites shine with massive outdoor spaces that includes large private infinity pools, garden areas with three-person Bali beds and two loungers. There’s also a six-person wooden banquet table with bamboo chairs that can be catered by a private chef on request.

All suites include Lavazza coffee machines, airport transfers, free breakfast, in-room sound systems, and balconies or gardens. These suites have small living rooms that sport chic L-shaped couches, natural tree stump coffee tables, and painted concrete floors. Branded beach totes and free champagne on check-in are extra perks.

Pool

Stylish pool area with large lagoon-style pool

At the hotel’s heart lies the large, lagoon-style Cherry Pool. This sleek and sexy area has a huge tiled hot tub bigger than most kids' pools, wooden bridges over the pool, and a variety of upscale contemporary loungers, wicker leaf seats, and beds. The pool area stretches from just behind the lobby out to the rocky coastline with views of Formentera and the Mediterranean Sea. Tall palm trees, a sand-colored concrete deck, gorgeous beach entry, and crisp-white umbrellas help make this area feel like a welcomed oasis, though guests have reported slow service and expensive drinks. Two poolside bars and the hotel restaurant service the pool menu’s drinks, cocktails, fresh juice, and food menu until a few hours after sundown.

Features

Amenities that keep guests well-fed, relaxed, and in the center of the party

Destino's range of features are geared toward its target clientele of partiers who indulge in a daytime detox. To start, there's free entrance to the twice-weekly Rumors parties that go off in the poolside amphitheater every Sunday and Thursday, where guests can drink and dance with fellow guests and outsiders while grabbing food from different food trucks. Flamenco nights and chef’s table dinner bookings also make appearances. A big perks for clubbers is the free and guaranteed entrance to Pacha nightclub for guests who book online or stay in suites.

The hotel’s spa is set up inside a repurposed room block and has an indoor/outdoor setup with a relaxing vibe and continuation of the light Southeast Asian decor seen in the lobby. A range of reasonably priced beauty, body, and wellness treatments are administered across three treatment rooms and a small salon. There’s also a small massage area out by the pool. A wellness area with a yoga studio is used for hot yoga and other classes for a fee, and guests can use Technogym equipment in the tiny gym. Guests who arrive early or depart after check-out can use the cold water shower and small change room here.

Destino Restaurant has a upscale yet casual vibe, and only a handful of indoor seating. Most of the dining tables are out on the patio or a raised deck that runs parallel to the pool. A popular breakfast buffet is served each morning, free for those who stay in suites, plus a fairly pricey a la carte lunch and dinner menu with dishes that range from burgers to caviar. There’s also a Japanese grill and sushi station set up inside the restaurant, and at night the menu reflects more of a Mediterranean flare as its name changes to Modest. Room service is available 24/7, and the poolside bar slings both delicious cocktails and detox juices.

Though several aspects of the hotel can be pricey, guests can expect free property-wide Wi-Fi, free parking in a gravel lot across the street, and free welcome drinks for anyone who arrives and their room is not ready. Other perks include golf cart transportation on request, and fruit-infused water and free copies of Pacha’s magazine in the lobby. Two clothing stores, including a Pacha-branded store, are located by the entrance.
