Bottom Line

Coral Cay Resort is a mid-range, gated town house community with 155 two-story units, all with hot tubs and screened-in porches. Most of the town houses are well-maintained with fully equipped kitchens, washer/dryers, and three or four bedrooms. Some units have great views of the lake. But furnishings are not new: They include tube-style TVs, and guests have complained about stains on the floors and furniture. The property is right off Highway 192, with Walt Disney World 10 minutes away and SeaWorld/Universal Studios about 20 minutes away. There is an outdoor pool area with a small hot tub and wading pool, and beautiful lake views. The resort has two playgrounds with lots of colorful equipment for children, and a volleyball court. There is no on-site fitness center, but there is a walking path with workout stations.

Coral Cay Resort

Scene

Lakefront property with classic Floridian design

Traditional Floridian design flows from the pastel-colored exteriors through the common areas -- the casual lobby looks as if it could be someone's living room, with tan tile and floral curtains. Wood chairs with black leather are grouped into informal seating areas, with small palm tree plants in the corners, which add to the tropical atmosphere. The ocean-themed Clubhouse has been updated, with animal print chairs, blue walls, art pieces, and beach paraphernalia, such as a large shell that holds magazines. The game room has a pool table and full kitchen, with tan granite countertops and wood cabinets. Trees and grassy areas surround the lake.

All the town houses have three or four bedrooms, colorful exteriors, and washer/dryers. Most have been well-maintained. Fully equipped kitchens have white wood islands, and coffeemakers, toasters, and blenders sit on the tan laminate countertops. Downstairs living rooms have striped sofa-bed couches with blue armchairs while some upstairs living areas have foosball tables. All rooms have screened-in patios with big hot tubs, and some have great water views. Bedrooms have classic Floridian decor with floral comforters, ocean artwork on the tan walls, and wood and wicker furniture. A foosball table is a fun touch.
