The 267-room Westgate Towers Resort is the smaller sister property of Westgate
Resorts. It’s a mid-range property that consists of two buildings and three outdoor swimming
pools, along with a good range of amenities including an outdoor playground and a barbecue area. The suites are large and have a
homey, apartment feel complete with kitchens and furnished balconies. This is one of the closest resorts to Disney World, a major plus. The only let-down is that the Wi-Fi isn’t free and there isn't an on-site restaurant. Many
guests here are repeat visitors, coming back year after year.
Scene
Family-friendly, three pearl resort
The Westgate Towers Resort has a more upscale feel than many of its competitors of the
same class. The lobby has a living room appeal, set with brown leather armchairs and colorful paintings on the walls. Leaf-shape ceiling fans hang overhead. Outdoor
spaces include paved pathways that lead to a water fountain surrounded by tropical plants. The resort is a Disney "Good Neighbor"
hotel, which means if Disney needs more rooms, people are referred here. It
would be a good choice for business travelers needing accommodation in this
area, but mainly the hotel is geared towards and used by tourists visiting the
theme parks. The atmosphere is relaxed, but can experience some noise from enthusiastic kids.
Location
Easy to find, and the perfect spot for Disney
The property’s location is extremely convenient for those visiting Disney
World as it’s just one mile from the main entrance to the park. The area around
the hotel is one of the main highways into Disney and is lined with hotels,
restaurants, and shops, giving guests a wide range of dining options. Universal
is around a 20-minute drive away. The hotel is easily accessible as it’s only seven
miles from the interstate, and less than 30 minutes to Orlando International
Airport.
Rooms
Large and fully-equipped rooms with home comforts including kitchens
Room types here include Studios, One-Bedroom Suites, and Two-Bedroom Suites. They aim to
offer guests the comforts of a fully furnished home, and they deliver. The studios sleep up to four people and
have a kitchenette with mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, and coffeemaker. The
suites have a large sitting area with comfortable sofas, a coffee table, colorful rug,
flat-screen TV, and DVD player. A dining area leads into the open-plan
kitchen which has a full-size fridge/freezer, stove and oven, dishwasher, microwave,
and all the other amenities you would expect right down to a
corkscrew, can opener, and blender. The bedrooms are large and have a warm and
sophisticated decor, some are painted a deep burgundy. Large bathrooms have a jetted bath and big separate walk-in shower. Some suites have a private terrace which is furnished with sun
loungers as well as a table and chairs.
Features
Plentiful amenities, especially for families, including three pools, a fitness center, and outdoor playground
There’s great outdoor space at the Westgate Towers Resort, including large, pretty
landscaped gardens with fountains, palm trees, and benches set in shady
spots. There are three outdoor pools, all of which are heated, plus a separate
children’s pool and three hot tubs. The children's playground has fun and modern equipment, and the attractive barbecue area allows guests to grill their own
food and eat at the picnic tables. There’s also a business center, generous fitness
center, and an amusement arcade with a variety of game machines. A free shuttle
to Disney World and Universal is provided, but does need to be pre-booked, and
there’s a fleet of golf carts that shuttle guests to the sister property
to use the amenities there. Free parking is available too, and pets are welcome
for an extra charge. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, but comes at
an extra cost.
