Scene
Large mid-range time-share property
Situated in a 38-story tower with three wings, Marriott's Grand Chateau is a large time-share resort. Though chainlike, common areas are clean, tasteful, and pleasant spaces. Forgoing glitz and glamor, the likes of which you'll find in many area hotels, the Grand Chateau went with a contemporary Marriott vibe meets Old-World luxe, filling its spacious lobby with large glass-and-crystal chandeliers, wooden paneling, and elegant seating clusters. Tasteful armchairs, love seats, and some banquette seating offer a place in which to wait or relax. Due to its spacious suites with kitchenettes and living rooms, the property attracts families as well as groups who don't mind the lack of a casino or entertainment.
Location
Across Harmon Avenue from Planet Hollywood and a five-minute walk to the Strip
The hotel is conveniently located a five-minute walk from the Strip, across Harmon Avenue from Planet Hollywood. Many top casinos and attractions are within walking distance, including the MGM Grand, the Bellagio, and the Tropicana. Cabs are widely available, or a generally less expensive option is the Deuce, a double-decker bus that runs up and down the strip 24-hours a day, seven days a week. There's also a monorail system, which stops at MGM Grand, Bally's/Paris, Flamingo/Caesars Palace, Harrah's, and the Las Vegas Convention Center. McCarran International Airport is a seven-minute drive from the hotel. Other area attractions include the iconic "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign, which takes about nine minutes to reach by car; the Neon Museum (which has a collection of old Las Vegas signs) is a 15- to 20-minute drive from the property; downtown Las Vegas (where guests can visit the busker-filled Fremont Street Experience), also takes about the same amount of time. Travelers that want to venture further have about a 50-minute drive to the Hoover Dam. The Grand Canyon can be reached in around four-and-a-half hours.
Rooms
Spacious Villas with a homey atmosphere, full kitchens, living rooms, dining areas, and washer/dryers
The spacious Villas are a great option for families or groups. There are one-, two-, and three-bedroom options available, starting at 820 square feet (74 square meters) and maxing out at 2095 square feet (189 square meters). There are also some smaller 435-square-foot Guest Rooms (39 square meters) that don't have full kitchens but do have kitchenettes with toasters, microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers. They also have sitting areas with pullout sofas and dining areas.Though not terribly stylish, these homey apartment-style rooms provide a sense of comfort. They're more homelike than a flashy Vegas hotel room. Large colorful headboards are paired with colorful bed skirts, bed runners, and curtains. All suites have full kitchens as well as living rooms and dining areas. Kitchens are equipped with stoves/ovens, microwaves, dishwashers, full fridges, coffeemakers, and dish-/cooking-ware, plus all units have washers and dryers. Other standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, DVD players, and free Wi-Fi. Clean, contemporary bathrooms have granite countertops and are outfitted with shower/tub combos. Individual toiletries are supplied. Some Villas have great views of the Strip.
Features
Two outdoor pools and a poolside bar, large and well-equipped fitness center, and a 24-hour convenience store
A solid set of features is available at the Marriott Grand Chateau. There's a small, but lovely, rooftop pool with a pleasant pool deck lined with loungers and great views over the city, plus there's a poolside bar here that makes a great spot for some sunset cocktails. The hotel has another outdoor pool on it's fifth level that's a bit larger, plus there's a hot tub here. There's also a bar that serves casual food, like cheeseburgers and tacos. The hotel's third bar is located in the lobby. There's no full restaurant at this hotel, but an on-site 24-hour convenience store, The MarketPlace, stocks groceries for Villa kitchens. The fitness center is spacious and well equipped with well-maintained equipment. Life Fitness treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes face a row of flat-screen TVs. The facility also features weight machines, fitness balls, free weights, and steam rooms. Other amenities include free valet parking, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. For business services, the front desk will help with printing and faxing. This is one of few hotels in the area that doesn't charge a resort fee, a nice plus.
