Rooms are tastefully decorated in neutral decor and include amenities such as mini-fridges, ergonomic desk chairs, and free Wi-Fi. The hotel has an on-site restaurant and bar, a small store for grab-and-go snacks, a 24-hour fitness center, a small laundry room, and a 24-hour business center. A breakfast buffet is served daily, but it doesn’t come standard with the room rate. An airport shuttle takes guests to their terminal for free. But travelers may prefer the Hilton Rome Airport Hotel, a similarly named Hilton property which also has an indoor pool.
Scene
Tasteful airport chain hotel with somewhat generic decor
Situated in a large beige building with a flat facade, the Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport is a purpose-built property opened in 2006. The atmosphere is that of a large, modern international airport hotel with bustling crowds of passengers, airline crews, and business guests in transit to other destinations. The hotel has a contemporary style that’s tasteful, clean, and well-maintained, if not somewhat generic. A large reception area is built for function with a white tiled floor and white walls that extends into other areas, such as the restaurant. There's a pleasant seating area with a faux-library look that includes leathery beige and tan seating and a bookshelf wall. Original works by contemporary international artists are displayed on the walls in common areas and hallways, lending a touch of color and flair.
Location
A 10-minute drive to Leonardo da Vinci International Airport
The Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport hotel (not to be confused with the nearby Hilton Rome Airport Hotel) is situated amongst the parking lots of the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Fiumicino, about a half-hour outside of historic metropolitan Rome. While right on the premises of the airport, it still takes about 10 minutes to drive to the terminals, or guests can use the hotel’s free airport shuttle, which takes about 20 minutes and is available 24 hours. The location is somewhat isolated, so it’s not an ideal home-base for tourists and sightseers, but its proximity to the airport makes it extremely convenient for international travelers, flight crews, and business guests. Unfortunately, there's a charge for parking.
Rooms
Tasteful rooms with simple decor and modern amenities
Rooms are spacious, clean, and modern with simple, fresh decor in neutral colors. Standard Rooms feature wood floors, beige and white walls, and white bedding that's brightened by striped green-and-yellow curtains and framed modern art. All rooms are air-conditioned and include desks with built-in outlets and ergonomic chairs, wardrobes, small sitting areas, and bedside reading lamps. Rooms are also equipped with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee service, and mini-fridges. Bathrooms are neutral but well-maintained. Each is fully tiled in beige and dark green with white fixtures. They typically include vanities, shower/tub combos, toilets and bidets, hairdryers, and free Peter Thomas Roth individual toiletries. All rooms have double-glazed windows, and guests remark that while the hotel is busy and right next to the airport, it’s quite quiet in rooms. The hotel’s Family Room includes a double sofa bed and a separate living room, making it ideal for those with little ones.
Features
24-hour fitness and business centers, restaurant, and free Wi-Fi -- but breakfast costs extra
The hotel has a range of features that one might expect from a large chain. The Restaurant serves a daily breakfast buffet, lunch, and dinner and offers indoor as well as outdoor patio seating. The breakfast buffet isn’t included standard with the room rate, but does feature homemade waffles as well as gluten-free choices. The Bar Lounge offers snacks and drinks while the Pavilion grab-and-go shop is open 24 hours and includes packaged snacks, sandwiches, drinks, and microwavable items along with a few traveler’s essentials. Room service is available in the evenings. Dedicated microwave rooms are outfitted with microwaves, a bottle opener, plates, paper towels, and tea bags. For business guests, the hotel has five meeting rooms, the largest of which can host up to 100 people, as well as amenities such as audio-visual equipment and video conferencing. The hotel’s business center is open 24-hours and includes a row of computers and a large printer and photocopier. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. The hotel also offers a basic but tasteful 24-hour fitness area with a wood floor and several dated cardio and weight machines as well as free weights. A laundry room has a coin-operated washer and dryer, irons and ironing boards, and a sitting area with a TV. The hotel also has an ATM and currency exchange. Children’s menus, cribs, and high chairs are available. Parking costs an extra fee, but shuttle service to and from the airport is free of charge. No pets are allowed, and the hotel is nonsmoking.
