Scene
A clean, bright, family-friendly Hollywood hotel with a pool
Centered around a clean and modern pool and lined on one side with palm trees, the two-story Days Inn Hollywood/Universal Studios draws families, couples, and business travelers. Its lobby is spacious and bright with salmon pink marble and traditional furniture. The beige exterior of the hotel -- right on Sunset Boulevard -- is clean and charming with an arched, small driveway, windows lining the lobby and a smattering of green hedges.
Location
In the middle of Hollywood's bright lights, on the famous Sunset Boulevard
As the song goes, "Nobody walks in L.A." But the Days Inn Hollywood/Universal Studios is so conveniently located that guests are within a 10- to 15-minute walk of the Roosevelt Hotel, El Capitan Theatre, the Walk of Fame, the Hollywood and Highland center, TCL Chinese Theater, and the Jimmy Kimmel Show. At night, Hollywood Boulevard is home to the trendiest nightclubs, or it's a 10-minute drive to Sunset Strip. The Red Line Metro station, a 10-minute walk away, goes to Universal Studios in 21 minutes or to the Staples Center in 40 minutes. There are family-friendly restaurants, such as IHOP and In-N-Out, on the block. The area, though, has exotic clubs nearby and can be touch and go at night.
Rooms
Modern, stylish, bright rooms with flat-screen TVs, mini refrigerators, and microwaves
The hotel's contemporary rooms -- bright and spacious with neutral-colored modern furniture and pops of color -- are perfect for families. Rooms have flat-screen TVs, mini refrigerators, safes, and microwaves. Suites have separate but plain and sparsely furnished sitting areas and minimalist kitchens that are equipped with microwaves and countertops with sinks. Most rooms have balconies and overlook the pool. Bathrooms are clean and bright with a large, modern mirror that lights up. Guests praise the comfortable bedding and mattresses.
Features
Clean, bright pool, underground parking for a fee, and two PC computers in the lobby
The modern, heated pool is the focal point of the hotel, situated in the middle with balconies all around and palm trees lining the Sunset Boulevard side. Bright-blue lounge chairs and umbrellas add nice pops of color to the clean, bright pool deck. There are green potted plants around the pool and a vending machine right by the lobby door. The lobby has two PC computers on a wooden desk, which are surrounded by a few colorful potted plants. Underground parking is also available for a fee.
