There are 142 apartments at this all-inclusive budget resort set on a pretty
hilltop, a 10-minute walk from the center of Santa Ponsa. The hotel has fantastic views
over the bay, and offers plenty of activities, from tennis to
mini-golf plus a kids' club and two swimming pools. The apartments are spacious
and light, and have large dining and sitting areas plus small kitchenettes and
a balcony or terrace. However, furniture and decor throughout the hotel is dated and basic. Rates are quite steep for what's on offer here, especially compared to far nicer options in town. Travelers can score frequently cheaper with more style at the SENTIDO Punta del Mar, though rates there aren't all-inclusive and it's farther from town.
Scene
Large, dated hilltop resort provides a reliable budget option for families
Spread across a series of buildings overlooking Santa Ponsa, this apartment complex is surrounded by extensive gardens and
pine trees, and provides stunning panoramic views of Santa Ponsa Bay. With its hilltop layout, the property has the feel of a small village, drawing a good number of visitors year after year. The buildings have a pale
peach-colored exterior and are surrounded by pretty dry-stone walls and
walkways, helping everything blend into its natural surroundings. The
lobby is large and bright, although the decor is dated and basic,
as in the apartments themselves. There's a choice of comfortable, if
tired-looking, couches, some computer stations, a small library, a stand of
tourist information leaflets, and a pine reception desk and paneling on the
walls. Rates are strictly all-inclusive for most of the year, and the hotel attracts a good number of families. While that means things can be lively, with lots of kids running about and entertainment teams throughout the day, the hotel isn't raucous. In fact, there are two large outdoor pools and those with children tend
to gather around the larger one, leaving the other for those looking for peace
and quiet.
Location
On a quiet hilltop, a 10-minute walk from the beach and town
The property is set on a hill overlooking the sea in a quiet residential
area of Santa Ponsa. Around a 10-minute walk down the hill is the beautiful white sand Santa
Ponsa Beach and the main strip of shops and restaurants. The Square Santa Ponsa
is also in the center of town, where there are a range of shops, bars, and
entertainment, such as tribute acts performing in the evenings. The hilltop
location means there’s an uphill walk back to the hotel from town,
which is an issue for some guests, though the hotel does provide a free shuttle
six days a week. There are some popular tourist attractions within a short
drive of the property. Jungle Parc, with its treetop circuit of bridges, ropes,
vines, and zip wires is a 10-minute drive from the hotel, and the marine
amusement park, Marineland Mallorca, with dolphin and sea lion shows is around a 15-minute drive. Palma de Mallorca Airport is
around a half hour away by car.
Rooms
Spacious apartments with basic, older interiors plus kitchens and balconies or terraces
There are 142 apartments within the Club Santa Ponsa resort, and while each of the apartments is spacious and light, decor is basic and dated. Guests can expect to see a blue and peach color scheme, soft-colored linens, outdated patterned bedspreads, and simple posters of paintings in cheap frames on the walls. Every room has outdoor space -- either a balcony or terrace -- that's furnished budget plastic patio furniture. There are some great views over Santa Ponsa bay or the nearby mountain range depending on the room. Everything is clean and well-kept, and the bright color schemes are at least cheerful.Rooms are
available as studios, sleeping up to two adults and one child, or one-bedroom apartments,
which sleep up to three adults or two adults and two children. Every apartment has
a large sitting and dining area, and a small kitchenette with a stove, sink,
fridge, and cooking utensils. The apartments are also equipped with ceiling
fans, a safe, a small flat-screen TV with satellite channels, and free Wi-Fi. Keep in mind that none of the rooms are air-conditioned and Majorca can be hot in the summer. Bathrooms are simple, but decently sized, with white and navy tiling plus white marble vanities and a good bit of counter space. They include shower/tub combos, bidets, and basic toiletries.
Features
Plenty of amenities and activities plus two pools and all-inclusive rates
Club Santa Ponsa offers a good range of different amenities for a hotel
in this category. Entertainment options include a tennis court, pool table, table tennis, squash court, dart board, mini-golf course, children's playground, and
kids' club. Some of the facilities are showing signs of wear and tear though,
and could use some TLC. There is also an entertainment team who provide games
and activities throughout the day, and perform shows in the small theater in
the evenings. There are two large outdoor swimming pools and both have plenty
of sun loungers to choose from -- the smaller pool is the quieter option for those traveling without children. The hotel has a casual buffet restaurant which
is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It has pine chairs, white
tablecloths, and an attractive stone floor. Spanish and international dishes
are provided, and there are a range of colorful platters of fresh fruit and
vegetables, plus a range of freshly cooked meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes.
The traditional Spanish tapas are particularly popular with guests. There is
also a bar which serves a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks on a
sunny terrace where there are comfortable wicker tables and chairs. The hotel is strictly all-inclusive for much of the year, so check ahead. The hotel’s
free shuttle runs regularly into Santa Ponsa six days a week, and there are plenty of free parking spaces within the grounds. Free car parking is also available on the surrounding streets. Wi-Fi is free throughout the
property.
