What's mostly black and white with hints of red all over? Salles Hotel Malaga Centro. Thanks to a refurbishment in 2016, the hotel is largely modern and done in a stylish color palette, though a few rooms retained the classic look. The lobby is adorned in shades of black, white, and gray, with pops of red in leather seating and large floor vases. Patterned wallpaper, chandeliers, and marble flooring are attractive touches, though the real highlight is found on the roof. Gorgeous city vistas are provided at the rooftop plunge pool, bar, and solarium with sunbeds. However, some past guests have complained of late-night noise from the bar.

Salles Hotel Malaga Centro has a central and convenient location for exploring all that the old town has to offer. Guests are within a short walking distance of many of Malaga's main tourist attractions, and the surrounding streets are packed with countless shops, restaurants, cafes, and bars. Nearby sights include the Picasso Museum (10-minute walk), Malaga Museum (11 minutes), and Teatro Romano (13 minutes on foot). Though set in the bustling streets of the city, guests can escape to the closest beach in 10 minutes by car or 25 minutes on foot. Malaga Airport is under a 20-minute drive.

Rooms are comfortable and clean, outfitted in either a classic style or modern black-and-white look. The former have cream wooden furniture, wood floors, gray walls with old-fashioned artwork, and mismatched patterned black-and-white linens that feel a bit busy. Contemporary units, meanwhile, have black wooden furniture, the same linens, and red leather seating. While some units have lovely city views and balconies, others have small windows and unattractive wall vistas. Additionally, some rooms are on the small side. Despite their aesthetic differences, all rooms promise many of the same amenities, including air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, work desks, and minibars. Marble bathrooms come with shower/tub combos or walk-in showers, plus hairdryers, free toiletries, and bidets. Note that some past guests have complained of noise from outside and the rooftop bar.

The rooftop is the highlight at Salles Hotel Malaga Centro. It houses a pool, indoor fitness center with outdoor solarium, and a bar that serves drinks and snacks. A decent number of sunbeds surround the pool, which is on the small side and operates seasonally. Cardio machines, free weights, and a weight bench are available at the gym, which has glass walls and overlooks a sunbed-equipped terrace with fake grass. The rooftop bar tis a popular and fun spot, and additional Mediterranean food is available at the indoor Picasso Restaurant. Buffet breakfasts at the eatery recive positive reviews and consist of hot and cold fare such as eggs, beans, fruit, pastries, and cold meats and cheeses. Wi-Fi is free and there are four meeting spaces on-site.
