Bottom Line

The upscale Hilton Manchester Deansgate occupies 23 floors of Beetham Tower, Manchester’s highest building and one of the city’s most iconic modern landmarks. All of the 279 contemporary rooms and suites have a scenic view of the cityscape, as does the stylish Cloud 23 bar, one of the city’s most popular nightspots. Even the swimming pool here has a view thanks to being enclosed in glass panels. A notable downside is the lack of free Wi-Fi access which is reserved for Hilton Hhonors members, and only guests staying in the Executive Rooms can enjoy a free breakfast, as well as other perks in the Executive Lounge. While this is one of the trendiest places to stay in Manchester city center, it's more expensive than nearby upscale hotels. It’s worth checking out more reasonably priced options, like The Midland which occupies an elegant heritage building, and has an impressive pool and squash court.

Hilton Manchester Deansgate

Scene

A classy, contemporary property with an ultra-modern atmosphere

The Hilton Manchester Deansgate is spread over the lower 23 floors of Manchester’s 47-story Beetham Tower, which was completed in 2006 as part of a city regeneration project, and today it's one of the city’s best-known landmarks. This impressive skyscraper is an ultra-modern glass and steel structure with a slim, sleek form. Part of the appeal of spending a night here is the fabulous views over the city from the guest rooms and suites, and of the twinkling skyline after dark. The public spaces are extremely spacious, with ultra-high ceilings, huge windows, and giant concrete pillars in the lobby. From here, a striking spiral staircase with glass banisters winds upward. The hallways are lined with wood paneling on the walls, and brown and beige carpeting. The Hilton Manchester Deansgate appeals to business and leisure travelers, but it's also very popular with partygoers who stay here to be close to the city’s many popular nightspots.

Hilton Manchester Deansgate is located in the center of Manchester on one of the city’s best-known and busiest streets, home to many high-end shops and department stores, as well as some of the city’s trendiest restaurants and bars. Rooms

Large, bright, contemporary-style guest rooms and suites

In keeping with the hotel’s ultra-modern architecture, the guest rooms are contemporary in style: They're spacious, uncluttered, and very bright thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. The color scheme is of neutral grays and browns: Gray carpets, brown accent walls, with an abstract artwork over the bed adding a splash of color. Box-frame lamps and swivel armchairs add to the contemporary look. Long work desks can double as dressing tables due to built-in flip-top mirrors. And the rooms' crowning feature is clearly the sweeping city views. Bathrooms are on the smaller side, with tub and shower combos and vessel sinks. Some rooms are showing signs that a refurbishment is overdue, like chipped furniture, stained chairs, smudged carpets, and cracked glass.

All guest rooms have flat-screen TVs, electric kettles for tea and coffee, minibars, irons and ironing boards, and Peter Thomas Roth toiletries. The top-floor Suites have some notable extras: sitting areas, Nespresso coffeemakers, and marble bathrooms with a second TV plus separate tubs and showers. Guests staying in the Suites and Executive Rooms have access to the Executive Lounge on the 23rd floor where there’s free breakfast, snacks, and refreshments available all day long.

Features

A pool with a view and a trendy bar on the 23rd floor

One of the most notable features of the Hilton Manchester Deansgate is its spectacular 65-foot (20-meter) swimming pool that has glass panels showcasing views over the city. There’s also a whirlpool, sauna and steam room, fitness room, and Claretys spa offering beauty treatments. The popular Club 23, a trendy cocktail bar on the 23rd floor, is popular with locals for its gorgeous views and classy setting -- for this reason tables need to be booked in advance. The on-site Podium Restaurant and Podium Bar serve meals and refreshments throughout the day, and there are 11 meeting rooms and event spaces in the hotel, which can be booked for meetings and special events for up to 600 guests. And while Hilton Hhonors members get Wi-Fi for free, other guest must pay an additional fee.
