Bottom Line

The mid-range Hilton Garden Inn Plymouth is a well-maintained hotel off the freeway. A few restaurants are within walking distance, and it's a short drive to the Plymouth waterfront attractions. Highlights include a daily hot breakfast buffet with cooked-to-order items (not included in rates), lobby bar, indoor pool/whirlpool, fitness center, laundry room, and meeting space. Its 130 rooms are spacious, with mini-fridges, microwaves, Keurig coffeemakers, and evening room service provided by a local restaurant, but they lack notable views. Travelers could also consider the Hampton Inn & Suites Plymouth, which offers similar amenities at lower rates.

Hilton Garden Inn Plymouth

Scene

A modern, well-maintained chain hotel with a bright, spacious, two-story lobby

The handsome, two-story lobby of this quiet hotel is spacious and airy, with a skylight illuminating thriving tropical plants. Shimmering, two-story curtains in blue and silver complement the light-beige tile floors. A cluster of chandeliers in various oval shapes hang from the second story above the main entrance. There are many cozy nooks, including a sunny corner space with bright-orange chairs arranged around a striking, egg-shaped coffee table shining with silver paint. More bright-orange and teal chairs are in other areas of the lobby and breakfast room, including next to the double-sided fireplace that has an inviting terra-cotta hearth. As a whole, it's a fresh look that livens up this Hilton Garden outpost above the usual chain hotel.

This Hilton Garden Inn is located in a commercial area that includes a Home Depot, hair salon, and a few restaurants within a couple minutes’ walk. It’s a quiet area that’s about a two-minute drive to Pilgrims Highway leading to Cape Cod, which is about 35 minutes away (Provincetown at the far tip is a 90-minute drive). It’s a five- to 10-minute drive to Plymouth Harbor and the attractions in the Plymouth Cultural District, including the Mayflower II replica ship. Plymouth Plantation is an eight-minute drive. Approximate drive times to Boston Logan International Airport and T.F. Green International Airport in Rhode Island are 45 and 90 minutes, respectively.

Rooms

Spacious rooms with standard chain-hotel decor, microwaves, mini-fridges, and Keurig coffeemakers

There’s nothing extraordinary about these 130 Hilton rooms, but they're spacious and pleasantly decorated in the usual chain-hotel look. Quality wood furniture in a rich, reddish-brown finish is the most notable aspect. Matching furniture includes curved headboards and desks, plus dressers and bureaus with black granite tops. Walls, drapes, patterned carpeting, and armchairs/ottomans sport brown and tan shades that complement the furniture. Desks have ergonomic office chairs. The large bathrooms have a brown-based, earth-toned motif, which include roomy tan-granite vanities with beige tile framing the shower/tub combos. Neutrogena toiletries are provided. The rooms shine a bit in their amenities, which include Keurig coffeemakers, microwaves, mini-fridges, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Sitting amid a mostly commercial area means ho-hum views, but the rooms are quiet and the beds are comfortable.

This hotel has a nice amenities package, including its Great American Grille that offers a daily hot breakfast buffet (not included in room rates) with cooked-to-order omelets.
