Bottom Line

The Ramada Miami Springs/Miami International Airport is 122-room, budget property conveniently located five minutes from the airport with free shuttle service. It's a 15-minute drive from the Port of Miami, and golf, casinos, and family attractions are all less than 30 minutes away. Rooms are modern and bright, and some have kitchenettes. The outdoor pool, free breakfast, and on-site restaurant and bar are all pluses, though guests will hear airport noise and there is a fee for the cruise terminal shuttle. Guests can compare rates with the Red Roof Plus Miami Airport where all rooms have mini-fridges and microwaves as well as bathtubs, and its shuttle to the cruise port is free.

Oyster Hotel Review

Ramada by Wyndham Miami Springs/Miami International Airport

Scene

Straightforward airport hotel suitable for travelers flying or cruising from Miami

The Ramada Miami Springs is in a nondescript two-story rectangular building, surrounded by a parking lot. Guests enter through automatic glass doors into the large lobby. The reception desk is off to the right, and a red London-style phone booth adds a pop of color to the beige tiled space. A monitor displays up-to-date Miami flight information. Black sofas plus black or purple contemporary chairs provide places for guests to linger in the lobby. Vending machines and a trio of microwaves stand prominently beside the front desk, and a small breakfast area with red dining chairs is off to the side. Some rooms are accessed by exterior walkways and the hotel is suited best for cost-conscious travelers who are taking flights or cruises out of Miami.

Location

Five minutes from airport and 15 minutes from cruise port

The hotel is situated just five minutes from Miami International Airport by car, with free shuttle service to and from the airport provided. Several fast food places are within walking distance, but the sights and attractions of South Beach require a car to reach (it's a 20- to 25-minute drive depending on traffic). For gamblers, the Hialeah Park Racing & Casino and Magic City Casino are within a 10-minute drive. It's a 15-minute drive to the Port of Miami for guests departing on cruises. Families can get to Miami Children's Museum in about 15 minutes by car and to Zoo Miami in about 30 minutes. Miami Springs Golf & Country Club takes five minutes to reach by car.

Rooms

Bright, modern rooms, some with kitchenettes

Rooms are modern and bright, with red, gold, and gray color schemes and a modern combination of dark and blonde wood furniture, plus purple chairs that add an additional splash of color. Large gold headboards pop against the red accent wall, while read-and-gray spotted bed runners lie atop the beds. Dark patterned rugs are spread across beige tile floors. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, free local phone calls, alarm clocks, irons and ironing boards, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. Rooms with kitchenettes add extra space as well as mini-fridges, sinks, microwaves, and cups and glasses. Bathrooms are small and have showers only, with toiletries provided in large eco-friendly dispensers. Some rooms look out onto the pool and others into the parking lot. Noise from airplanes overhead can be heard in guest rooms.
